The snow chains will shred your tyres on normal road!
Only use them on snow or ice covered roads.

Install winter tyres, that should improve things tremedously. Only use snowchains if you can't move.

Snow chains are legal in the UK but must only be used on snow covered surfaces. If you drive on roads where there is little snow, then they will damage the tarmac and you could be prosecuted.

If EVERYBODY just bought snow tyres - there would be far fewer problems on the road.
A friend of mine is in Belarus at the moment - thick snow and minus 20 degrees. No problems on the road, why? Cos they all use snow tyres. Its only the thick stupid British that don't use them for some unknown reason. Then all roads get blocked because they wonder why their tyres are just spinning.
The more they spin the harder they accelerate! Thickos!

Rant over all have a good prosperous day and lets hope it gets warmer soon.

In many European countries, snow can be predicted almost to the week every year and this is the reason that snow tyres and/or chains are a legal requirement.

Not so in the UK where snow may fall one year but not the next and can occur any time between November and March, even as late as April. For these reasons it is not economical to buy snow tyres which may only be used on the odd occasion and not every year.

These are the only snow chains you need, IMO.

And you get a big tank of water.

you are so right, I have winter tyres fitted onto my van they make a massive difference, I have actually enjoyed driving round people who are stuck haha

but the british public are thick and inept when it comes to the snow, the nanny state blasts grit and salt everywhere so that the public can drive with the wrong tyres,

then they cry "where were the gritters" when they get stuck driving with the WRONG tyres for the conditions,
