Hi ive just been down the garage and checked my gear and for the first time this year my ro has frozen. Ive got enough water to see me through for what i need so should i just let de frost on it own sorry if this seem a silly question but wfp is new to me this year

I wouldn't risk heating it up to defrost it. Pretty good way to crack it I imagine.

I've had my RO indoors since this weather started. Can you not do that from now on?

Try to remove the pipes and unscrew as much as you can to reduce the pressure from the ice thawing/expansion, dont use direct heat. Good luck.

it all mounted on the wall in the garage ive got it all wrap up its only the first filter thats got a bit frozen

I would take it off the garage wall and stick it in the bath for a few hours. The warmth in the house should start to thaw it out slowly. Then transfer it into the kitchen sink tonight. It should be completely defrosted by tomorrow morning, and then you will need to run it to see what damage if any has occurred.

Good advice from spruce.

Happened to me last year, all 3 housings of pre-filters shattered :'(

Got replacements from window cleanng warehouse.

Did bing ro indoors in bucket all filters were fine; kept checking ppm of water and was 0-002ppm.

Mine is in the van,.... its froze , defrosted,  many many times,

and its fine. ;D

Gazz you have been lucky OR its designed to take it, maybe some poly prop in the casing, whats the make ?

Hi Jeff its just a ro-man 300gpd, i have had it for 4 winters including this winter.

i do take care with heaters in the van on frosty nights, it like saturday or sunday where i have been caught out,... over the years,

but yes, its froze and defrosted many times.. never had a leak or break,

maybe i have been lucky. ;)
