how long will it take to warm up 500ltr tank , do i have to leave it on all night
-
2 WEEKS :D
I'd be intrested to know as well please ;)
-
matt bateman was on about one of these last year and it worked ,not sure wich one though.
ther are so many types
-
300 watts will only raise it by a few degrees. Matt got an expensive 3 kw heater not the sort of thing the average aquarium shop will have in stock.

Matt had a 3kw Weipro titanium tube heater....
I have the 1000w version with the digistat...it sits in my 2000litre tank and is set to keep the water at 5 deg...nothing more...
I think Matt had some issues with his heater tripping his electrics...
Mine has been fine so far...
Cheers

I got 2 500W stainless steel heaters off ebay for about £13 each + postage. They'll keep the water lukewarm even on the coldest of nights.

cant understand why these aquarium heaters arnt working for some of you,i had a 500w one in a 1000ltr ibc tank for some of my koi in the garage and had the temperature up to 20 c,only difference realy is my water in ibc was moving all the time, where these tanks in vans the water isnt moving so perhaps thats why they dont heat up the same :-\
-
You could be right , but... i may be wrong, but if water is moving.. wont it take longer to heat?
oh i dont know lol ;)
-
im no expert but id say moving water would heat quicker as a heater placed in a static tank can't heat water that is say a foot or more away from it,so would just heat the water close to it
-
In my static setup along with a 1000w tube heater I created a by pass so that I can turn the pump on and send the water back into the tank...this allows the heat transfer to increase.
Cheers
Dave.
