I'd get out of there.

My parents were looking for a new bank, and the Which report found Santander to be the worst one you could find.

Is this at 50p a cheque for each cheque over the monthly limit of 100 cheques paid in  or do they have some other penalty charges?

Hydrophyl  Have you checked that you did go over, as they tried this on with me earlier this week and after checking my books I realized they had made an error and contacted them.  Refunded straight away. :)

In the financial section of the Mail on Sunday they often have stories about bad service from Santander. I wouldnt touch them with a pole. I have two customers recently that have been waiting for new chequebooks for weeks from Santander (At least thats what their excuses are haha)

Always been with them well since they took over Abbey. It is free banking provided you put in less than £3000 cash per month and less than 100 cheques. They reckoned I had put in 160 cheques when it was more like 50.

Santander are the biggest thieving scum in the banking world (and that's saying something).

I also do my business banking with Natwest. My bank account name is different to my business name. A quick call to my bank manager and I am now able to pay cheques in with 4 different names on.  Great service.
