Title: L5 problem
Post by: DaveG on December 01, 2010, 04:56:49 pm
Hi guys
Ive just installed an L5, but it will only fire up with the gas regulator and water flow  turned right down??
Also the "water out" hose looks like its been sucked thin???

Ive connected it from tank to L5, then L5 to pump and so on...

Any ideas?

Cheers Dave

Ok Ive changed the pipework like tomy recommended and have solved that little problem....
But now the L5 fires up for about 10 seconds and turns off (it will fire up again if i re-set it but cuts out after 10 seconds again)
Cheers in advance guys
Dave

Yeh have to pump through the heater yeh, not pump after the heater, pump before to trigger it.

Sorry, didnt realise someone just said that, just saw your post about having pump after L5

10 second timeout? Is that with pump on a good rate? I used to have my digi varitstream on at least 4 for it to work.

I'm having a similar problem... the heater stays on for a bit, then cuts out, and has to be restarted from the ignition. Just a question, does the brass bleed screw underneath need to be all the way in??

I think it will need to be screwed right in or it would leak

This happens if the heater thinks the flame has failed.
If you take off the cover you will see 3 metal pins going into the flame,.. 2 of them spark & the third is the flameout sensor. Make sure the sensor is in the flame above a burner where it will get properly hot,.. about 10mm above the gas outlet normally.

I think in the UK you should display this sticker,.. the listing is for an A4 one,.. normally they're much smaller:
