Title: barclays phasing out checks

Paid some cheques in today , and was told by cashier as from feb 2011
 they are starting to phase them out .
 Anyone else aware of this

Yes.

I think all banks are phasing them out.

To be honest though, I think it is appauling because most people prefer to pay by cheque or cash.  Not everyone wants to just pay online only and some people won't pay online, which is what the banks want really.

Typical, which means we would have to go and collect the money.

Back to the good old days as it where, (not)!!!

Apparently, 2018 is the last year that cheques will be used.  I wasn't aware of any banks jumping earlier than that.  Indeed, 2018 was set in order to give the banks the opportunity to set up a reasonable alternative.  I doubt that "reasonable" will mean "free" though.
I'm gradually getting my customers to pay by bank transfers.  If any of them want to pay by a method that costs me money, they will have to pay the fee themself - even if I have to start building it into the overall price.

looks like its going to be a push towards bank transfer in new year
, dont thnik i want to go back to collecting as my work is to spread out .
