Hi all,
Just been reading alot of posts lately about minus this and that at night, people salting and gritting everywhere, heaters in vans etc.
Surely i can't be the only one but i 've had no problems whatsoever with cold weather this year in Kent.
Ok daytime today was 1c but all this means is using a slightly thicker pair of gloves, not had any of my van system freeze.

Not a problem in Sunny Cheshire ;D
-
I have no problem! However I'm chubby so I've got 'natural' insulation!
-
Not yet but it's early days...watch those winds from those cheeky scandies...
-
Good couple of inches of snow here today, still got full day though. :)

I don't think the winter will be anywhere near as bad as last year. Besides i like it like this when it's cold it always sunny and dry - better than mild and raining imo
-
no I have had no problems but then anything above -2 is fine with me
-
still time yet matthew!! ;) ;D ;D
its my first winter wfp and as long as i cover barrels and bring my trolley/pole/ extension hose/DI UNIT inside ive been ok up to now.
i salt a few doorways as ive been cleaning quite a few elderly customers windows today so just being considerate and careful and custies love the fact im making the effort to minimize any chance of slipping.

The real problems I found in the past couple of years is with temps around 0 to 2 during the day and sub temps at night..this doesn't appear to let it warmup so things just freeze and continue to do so.
This year I am just completing my new water storage unit...it has a a 2000 litre water storage tank with 1000w titanium tube heater and digi-stat which is set to 5 degs add to this a 45w tube/boat heat with a frost-stat for the membrane as a back-up. The whole set-up is housed in a cabinate with a good air-space all round then 20cm's of polystyreen sheets covered with double sided silver foiled bubble wrap. The idea is to make the water once a week the water will then be heated and should stay at a reasonable temp without needing too much extra heating as new water is not being added to often.
Van is filled on monday when cold enough, remaining water in van tank is pumped back into holding tank using a boat sump pump in van tank at the end of day...small amount of alcohol (15% +/-) is pumped through the system to prevent freezing...job done.
Obviously this is all a non-event if it gets that cold to prevent work...in that event...I'm recording loads of my fav progs on tv to pass the time ;D & to stop the cabin fever again!!...
What are you doing to prevent the freeze hurting you?
Cheers
Dave.

I remember posts like this last year, and people were leaving things too late to protect their equipment thinking it will be fine only to find they have woken up to cracked RO system, Oouch!

Minus 3 here last night. Pole was in kitchen all night and hoses in van and di and pump are covered with a thick blanket. I've worked every day so far this week so I'm hoping I'll get a full week in today. Haven't checked my van yet. Hoping to start about 1030.
