Hi everyone,
I hope this may help someone.
I've had a nightmare couple of days after fitting a brand new pump to my machine (CFR).
It seemed OK and then packed up half way through a job yesterday (the usual, when all the carpets are pre sprayed!).
No matter what I did checking joints and connectors, I still had air in the system. I bled it for over fifteen minutes and still no joy.
Today tried again and took the sides off allowing bright sunlight to shine through the inlet pipes. Air was being pulled down all three pipes from the solution tank.
When I looked inside, the three "mushroom" gauze filters, although looking clean, had air bubbles at the top! This was being pulled into the pump each time it ran for a few seconds.
I took them off, scrubbed each one with a brush and washing up liquid and refitted them.
I them ran the pump for over an hour with no problem apart from the occasional "burp". What a performance!

At least you got to the bottom of it Garry and sorted it.
I give little filters like that a rinse and then usually pop them in vineger or some sulfamic acid to clear any calc build up.

I thought I had rinsed them well and they certainly looked clean. It was only when I saw air bubbles under the mesh that I had any idea. I think Tony mentioned something similar in another thread.
You would not believe how many times I have removed and re sealed connectors and hoses looking for the air leak.
I'll have to add another minute to the regular maintenance now.

the company below was recommended by Len (thanks Len) gave them a call about my pump and very helpful the cost was £40 cheaper than ashbys for just the pump. the guys that fixes the machines is a real expert.

Forget ashbys this company is where its at. they are spitting distance from the M1 and M25 near watford.
One point I can remember walking into ashbys and you would have loads of machine in for service. now you go in and you will lucky to see one. scot and sons have loads in for service. I think this speaks for itself.

Absolutely right. Great company.
That's where I got the new pump and motor. The whole assembly (including new cam and bearing) was not much dearer than the pump alone elsewhere.
Official Pumptec agents, really good service.
I spoke to their engineer (Graham) on several occasions and he was a great help. As you said, a real expert; not just on the pump but the various machines they are fitted to.

To be fair I don’t know the company as I dealt with the other one on the list and they passed me on to someone else (there agent very good was considering become one of there agents)
