Title: Getting Paid
Post by: dave0123 on November 22, 2010, 05:54:15 pm
For those of you get cheques sent to you in the post or payments by BACS how long to you give them to pay?

I give cheques 16 days and Bacs 14 days to pay from clean.. seriously thinking of changing this to 10 days for cheque and 8 days for BACS

I expect immediate payment from residential - most of my customers pay me cash/cheque at the door (or hide somewhere in the garden)

I don't give a deadline, I just give them a card with my bank details and ask them to make the payment. Pretty much everyone pays within a few days, but as I mentioned 95% of my customers pay me as and when. Bear in mind though that I've just started up and I'm in month 3, so as I grow I may need to re-think.

out of 100 I guess at least 80 would ignore this, But most pay within a week, the last few pay within a month or 1 or 2 roll over to 2 cleans.

You most definately will have to re-think; as your customer base increases, along with your takings so will your arrears; I promise ;)

Indeed, at the moment I'm well ontop of it, I've got a few ideas however I feel at the moment my time is better spent on finding new custies

I put 14 days on my "Windows cleaned" paperwork.
It might as well be in invisible ink the notice some of them take of it though.
Most are fine.
