where could I get a manual broom for agitating pre sprays? ???
-
Jamie
it all depends on the dirt levels. ifs its light then yes but if its heavy then get a cheap rotary from ebay with a bonnet or shampoo brush on it.

I don't know where in Scotland you're based but it is worth popping up to see the guys at Cleaning Systems UK in Cupar.
You will get a brush there (or you can order one online) but as a new guy, you should introduce yourself as they can help you out with loads of stuff from equipment to chemicals to advice, repairs and training.

Id go with what ian said and get a rotary for doing the work for you mate..
-
Jamie, if I were you and I had the money I would opt for a Sebo Duo for agitation.
Believe me, agitating with a pile brush is hard work!
-
Matt Ian has a vaild point on the second hand rotary
New sebo duo with vat £235 agitation only
Second hand rotary say slow speed 175 - 200 rpm around £60 try and find one with the drive board if you can as these cost around the £60 mark to
Next poly scrub brush soft about £60 perfect for carpet agitation good weight around 30 kg including rotary
Buy a few pads and for the same money you have a machine for bonnet work as well as agitation and much easier to clean the brush.
And to anwser your original question your get a brush from any cc supplier for £25

Maybe he just wants a brush. ???

thanks for the advice think the duo etc are good additions to your service but dont want to pay out money for something mechanical when a trusty old brush can do the same with no hassle of letting you down... think the duo would make life easier tho :P
-
You are spot on there Jamie. I've had the same brush ten years now and it's only ever needed three new heads and one handle.
-
ive used a brush, ive used a duo and now i use an enviro, with 3 grades of brushes, it is virtually impossible to get the same result with a brush. its not about making life easier, i love hard work but a better result is paramount in this game.
and to put the enviro into perspective, if i was forced to lose the enviro or keep the enviro but lose the trucky to a 3 vac, i'd still have the enviro, its without doubt the key to the ultimate clean.

The importance of aggitation cannot be overstated. someone said imagine putting soap on your hands then just rinsing them off without rubbing them together or just putting clothes in a bucket with detergent and no movement. The results would be next to useless. A rake or manual brush does not even come close to an agitation machine with contra rotating cylindrical brushes. The crap that is lifted from the carpet just by agitating is eye opening. I like many started off with my trusty rake but never convinced myself that it would do as good a job as a machine. As you move on and wish to continually improve you methods a machine is just a common progression.
The difference is very visable and many people comment on how good the carpet looks just after agitation, it does not take much lomger to do as it requires less work with the wand and this saves a lot of energy on a large commercial job. Always invest as much as you can in good equipment it will pay back in the long run, and your potential income will aways be improving.
