Title: New Van
Post by: clive ware on November 20, 2010, 04:49:42 pm
Hi,
I`m toying with the idea of getting a new van. It needs to be manly enough to house a truckmount. I`ve got a transit van t280 mwb at the moment which I`ve had for 6 years so looking for something similar but at the same price I paid 6 years ago!! Anyone know of any bargains on new vans?
Cheers,
clive

Hi Wynne,
I usually trade in vans or t/ms after about 5 years. Only done about 73,000 miles but nice to have a new one with a warantee.

There were good deals on the Relay type vans but don't know if they are still doing them. Not my cup of tea but good reviews.

That's very good Richard far better than my bloody car!

I hired a LWB but didn't like the Gallic idiosyncrasies.

Shaun Ashmore has the Fiat Ducato version of the Relay/Boxer.
You will get some good deals at the moment - just scan the internet for typical deals.

Clive

just handed back my 08 traffic to the finance company, saving me £250 a mth for a vanette on a 01 plate that had 10K less mileage on it for just £1700

Lots of great deal on auto trader if you don't mind going to other end of the UK to pick it up. Mind you the train fair was only £35 from Southend to Runcorn

Good Luck

less repair bills, mot bills and extra fuel costs cos it don't run as efficient.

total saving, not much really.

Unless you can justify new ,with warranty , this is the most cost effective way of running a smart van

your wrong. full service history. plus its a slower van and the MPG is much better as I am not speeding around everywhere. plus if you dont have the money to pay the finance like i was in a month ago then you have no choice unless you want a ccj.

when google changed it search it wiped me out. if you dont address the problems asap then it only builds up. i seen guys go down in just a few months.

things pick up i will have the money to play with with marketing which is a much better place for it, and not with a bank.

The reason i was forced into getting a new van in the first place because i was ripped off by a respected carpet cleaner that used to be on here, who sold me his van with finance still outstanding and did do pay it off with the money i gave him. (before that i owned a van outright). he would have been safe if the engine had not has a issue that would have cost me £3k.

With respect Ian you have a very weird way of looking at things. I've seen a few posts on here giving advise on marketing yet you make BASIC marketing mistakes like putting all your eggs in one basket, then trying to justify having to downsize to some crappy van.

Why don't you just take responsibility for your circumstances and stop blaming everything and everyone else, then you will gain more respect.

Personally I like the idea of a nearly new van where the depreciation has taken a big chunk. If you have cash you save on interest and have more buying power.

i love Ivecos, had 2 from new and never had a problem apart from a short caused by a retrofit of electric windows.

I bought it new on Finance @ £102 a week over 3 years  with my old van as partX.

I will never have a van over 3 yrs from now on. the piece of mind I get from never having to worry about it is priceless to me.
