Title: emptying gutters - clean facia too?
Post by: mark mann on November 19, 2010, 12:02:35 am
hi all

i know been a lot of gutter talk lately - (no change there then)

but when custy wants gutters emptied and most are saying around 30 quid a side topend - how many customers just have that or do you talk them into the package of 60quid each side (topend) for empty and facia/soffit clean gutter facia?

also dont you have to clean windows after with crap getting onto windows when pulling wildlife out of gutter?

 :)

Hey Marc
Typically when I get an enquiry about emptying gutters I  suggest a package price . eg.  a 3 bed semi with small kitchen extension - emptying gutters, cleaning all pvc fascias sofffits and exterior guttering and cleaning windows & frames ( exterior ). c. €80.
No matter how carefull you are if your cleaning the pvc work with a wfp, some gunk or run off is going to hit the windows and you cant just ' rinse ' them off. From experience once a custy knows this they usually opt. for the package deal.
On average 7 out of ten go for this once price is around the 80 mark - afterall to empty the gutters alone will cost them c. €40 > € 50! and they are going to have nearly new pvc afterwards!!
Usually takes around an 1 hour and a bit and wfp with a hi / lo brush is great for cleaning pvc work.
Cheers
Ray

Hi P
Yeah the hi / lo brush head is great for cleaning the pvc work and due to its shape gets to 95 per cent of the gutter work . Much more efficient and quicker than struggling with a normal brush. Once you have the angle adaptor at the end of your wfp you can quickly angle and adjust the brush to accomodate the fascia soffit / gutter etc. your cleaning.
I ' wet up ' the pvc work first - just walk down the front or back of the house spraying water via the wfp for a minute then start to brush off the green and dirt ( wetting up the pvc softens the green grime  and makes it a hell of a lot easier on the arms when brushing off!! ).
I try to use the custys outside tap hooked up to the hosereel though - saves on pure water and you can up the pressure if you want. If I'm using my own water I set the pump to c. 6 to give out a good spray.
For doing the big ' mansions ' I use the telescopic lance and Press. washer although sometimes you still need to brush the pvc work off to get a really good finish.
Are you going to offer  custys a package deal? Price to empty gutters, clean all pvc work and clean windows &  frames? I do and its a handy little earner if you give them a good deal ( normal 3 bed semi €80 > €110, takes c. an hour and a bit to do ) and the neighbour almost always will come on board too so you can go a little cheaper then.
cheers
Ray
