Ok
I have a large leisure battery on split charge relay.
I only get about 2 hours ( running a surflow pump ) on full, before needing to start the van.
Is this about right,
I thought I should have got longer
Thanks in advance

charge the battery off a battery charger and see how long u get, test what the volts are if it is less then 12v when van isnt running or not on charge, then u need a new battery

I've been having this problem in the last few months. Mine started off every 2 hours now only runs for 30 mins.
Spoke to a guy at the battery centre in Exeter. He says the battrey is fine and charges ok, its just the age of it. (4 years)
He also said we shouldn't be using leisure battery's for reach and wash anyway.

i charge mine up every 2/3 days, starts off around 13.1 v after three days its about 12.3
sounds like the battery needs replacing
i dont see the problem with pump being run off the battery

plus leisure batterys are meant to be charged on a trickle not off a van, try a solar charge on it, or try just running of ur van battery not the leisure and see what happens

Thanks so far
This highlights diferent advise
I was told use a leisure battery as a normal battery has a 'crank charge' for starting a cold engine and aleisure would run a pump better
If i just use van battery I end up having to jump start.
I think I,ll try a new battery
thanks again

a split charger is a trickle charger.

why not just pick up 2-3 car batteries from a scrappy, thats what i have and keep 2 on the van at all times while 1's at home charging but generally i can get 2 full days from 1 battery. they cost be about a tenner each from scrapyard.
