I finished today at 4.00 and visited me ol' mammy as I was nearby and it was getting a bit dark. Left there at about 4.30 and drove home. At 4.45 in near darkness I'm driving towards my house when I stop to flash a few cars through a gap and as I wait I see a ladder with ladder mitts resting against a house window.
The householder had just arrived and the windy was doing a bottom window in the darkness. I heard her ask him in a somewhat irritated manner "How can you see what you're doing in this light?"
I didn't hear his reply as I had to drive on; but why on earth did he think it was a good idea to be cleaning windows by streetlight?
???

Yebbut - this was on a domestic.
-
i have to agree commercial is something you can get away with in the dark as nobody there or people not bothered as long as they aint paying the bill but if a windy was doing my house in dark theres no way you can be sure you aint missed something

my mrs ped herself laughing a few weeks back - i told about my dream - it was a vivid one thet seemed so real - i woke up and really thought id done it.
i pictured meself with floodlights (lmao) on a house cleaning windows at 9pm at night and later on in dream i was saying to mrs - this is great im earning 500 a day thanks to those floodlights - what a wicked investment.
but she thought i was really dumb when i paused after telling her about dream and seriously pondered over whether it was possible ...she laughed again bur then totally cracked up when i said i wonder if id get away ith night vision goggles.
i know fanciful thinking but did make laugh at me own innocent naive belief that id get away with doing that. can you imagine a floodlit house in the street with the neigbours going christ that bloody window cleaners still at it.
;D

Funnily enough, you can get a better view cleaning in the dark, provided there's a decent light on inside. Otherwise, no chance. I once finished off a commercial job in pitch black. The cleaners were inside and I asked them to leave the lights on until they were ready to leave. This was ladder work quite a few years ago. I could see the glass just fine (but not much else) ;D
-
Most start early on shop windows before its light, but on house's after dark for safety reasons may be not a good idea.

i often used to clean domestic work in the dark in winter and never had a problem with bad workin fact i think most good window cleaners can squeegee a window with his eyes shut and still make a good job, i dont want to turn this into a WFP trad argument but today i did some high windows WFP and thought i had done a good job but when i went inside and the sun was on them they where pretty bad and i went and re cleaned them, with the wind we have had recently these windows where obviously worse than i thought and it was my error as i obviously hadnt rinsed enough but my point being is that working with WFP is very similar to working with trad in the dark in that you cant see the results of your work untill they have dried so you rely on your skill and experience to judge if you have done a good job.
-
Some of the trad cleaners round our way just use a spray bottle and a cloth.
