how the hell can anyone wait 4 weeks or a month to get there windows cleaned, i cleaned my windows last week and today i wake up to see dirt and dust all over the glass, i thought it was foggy still and i opened the window to find its sunny and icey ;D . im thinking about offering every 2 weeks but if they would norm pay 10 for 4 weeks id half it to 5 every 2 weeks. rant over
-
You need to get a better window cleaner :-X ;D
-
You would make less per visit,I don't get it

very true, and i clean my own windows, i live in a flat 2nd floor so it was great practise with my pole and wagtail ;D ;D
-
the last few weeks have been bad, after a few cleans with wfp u go back and the windows look like they dont need doing,
-
sorry but don't see the sense in doing the windows twice a month at £5 a time when you can do it once a month for £10 , i do a few house twice a month but they pay full price after every clean
-
I'm just doing my winter/holiday changes and the people I am doing this week wont get cleaned again until the 16/17/18 of Feb...
It no biggy really...
-
what u working on dave 8 weeks? 6 weeks?
-
You sound very excited about your new business but don't rush to fill your your books up with poor priced work, price the jobs welll and you can do less work. i aim for £30 per hour which i am quite happy with, whatever you do don't under sell your services if you do in three to four years time you will have a load of work that you won't want to do and it won't be worth anything. ;)

When you pay someone else to clean your windows, you will find it easier to wait a bit longer. ;D ;D ;D

its been an unusual week,I think the rain and wind has dumped a lot a dirt on the windows, noticed last night when collecting,I traded some on thursday and a they are dirty again but the ones I wfp are still clean,I would never offer twice a month cleans false economy.price high, price clever.

Blue Monkey...8 weekly
-
well the 50 % charge was to make up what they would make monthly. was just doing i to make there windows better thats all. all i seem to do now is walk about looking at windows and saying hmmmm dirty wonder if they got a wc lmao ;D
-
my work so far is mates of mates who know another friend and a friend lmao ;D i dont do door knocking it shows im desperate, even tho i am lol if anyone asks i tell them im well booked up and there like WOW IN WINTER. i say well it still rains and theres still mud on windows
-
can't see the point of that, twice the work for same money ???
-
you need more customers if you have time to look at dirty windows, get knocking and build up a round so you can earn some proper money.W/C that do fortnight cleans are a thing of the past, you will find a lot will ask for monthly or six weeks,if you need 50 customers a week get yourself 250+ customers,it will take you a long time if you only have 10 customers to refer you,you need to Knock doors and shove a leaflet get out there and advertise, not all customers will go on internet to find a window cleaner.

hi ant, that is the wrond attitude, u need to get out knocking and take ever job u can, and then when every one is saying u must be desperate for work just say yea why u got work for me, after a few months u might start making money, the way i look at it is 100 jobs a week at £6 (cheap) thats 600 a week, people can laugh at me all they want , i earn more on my own than most couples around where i live, window cleaning is like taxiing, everyone things there is no more in it, but people do it for 30+ years, ask why?
-
well its a confidence thing, knocking the door and knowing what to say would be nice. and being knocked bk and nasty ppl ???
-
ant mate you wont last 2 mins pal.if you cant go canvassing"cos you think it looks desperate"and have nt got the money or time to deliver leaflets(or get a company to do it for you)you ll never have a decent round and will lose motivation(not that you ve got much anyway!).
at the moment you sound like a dreamer.if you really want to do well and build up a half decent round it aint gonna fall in yer lap!not ever esp in these hard times.
YOU have got to get knocking door after door after door after door!(and guess what after that?yes more door knocking!! ;D ;D ;D)couple it with leaflets and you ll start getting somewhere.
best wishes
dazmond

Just say hello I'm currently expanding my window cleaning business in this area would you like a free no obligation quote to have your windows cleaned on a regular basis or something along those lines and then sell yourself ie, I clean all frames etc etc, what ever you do don't just knock and try to undercut people this won't do you or anyone any good but take note of what dazmond said as thats what you need to do cleaning windows is easy getting the customers and compacting your round is the hard part. good luck and stay focused

cool ill give it a go.
one question tho, what if they ask how long ive been going? do i tell porkies and say over a yr or say im new?
-
just say "ive been going a while" ,
Being honest, its tough out there right now , but not so tough theres no windows left. you will need every ounce of charm to get the work tho ,to get a toehold . no customer will put up with a shabby job either, so be sure you dont rush in the early days. if you have to do a window 5 times to be sure your happy with it-so be it .
besides, the longer you take ,the more other folk on the same street will see you in action.they might not see you the first visit, nor the second ,but in time they will .
-
well i always do a good job, its quality not quantity lol ;D ;D ;D
im good with charm aswell :P ::)

I would take this advice on board because when your starting out you do have more time to get the job right and the more time you spend in the street, folk do watch and if they see you doing a good job they will ask you and slowly youll get a couple in the same street then 4 and it snowballs.

quality not quantity wont pay the bills!!!!
i have no problem knocking on doors but hate wasteing time when people arnt home so i have i leaflet with pricing boxes on the back for when people are not home, they work a treat and give you the option to price windows/soffitts/gutters etc without feeling pressured or that your inconveniancing people when ther trying to feed the kids etc. if you would like a sample send me your postal addres and i will forward some on, there about £150 For 5000 printed on gloss finish card and look the business, i made the cost of them back in the first few weeks of using them and even got a 6 monthly window/pressure cleaning job worth £300 a time from them. anyhows upto you mate but like people say it wont fall on your lap. ;
And please forget the 2 weekly cleans for the same money!!!!!!!! ::) ::)
-
yeh just going to stick with 4 weeks clean now. then when i get bit more busy ill go onto 8 weeks aswell or 6, just see how it goes really. gotta sort my new van out ( new to me lol s reg ) the door wont lock on the bk
-
