Title: carpet cleaner hire
Post by: Steve Chapman on November 16, 2010, 12:06:32 pm
Does anyone run a carpet cleaner hire service along side there regular cleaning business?

Just wondered whether this is viable and worth the hassle or whether it would interfere with customers that would normally use your services?

I've always thought this would work against you as it would encourage people to pay less and not use your regular service, but i may be wrong,

Has anyone done this succesfully?

I do often get people enquire whether we hire machines and they dont all go on to book us to do it for them, so maybe there is a market there for it ?

Regards
Steve

Steve I have been hiring out machines(numatic ctd902 with good performance) for a few years now.I currently am in the process of selling my hire business based in Swindon as i do most of my Truckmount/Thermadry work in Oxford and just cant fit it in anymore. Some people will never pay sensible money for a professional so i drop a machine to them and they do a good job themselves(not quite professional with proper kit but very acceptable).I get a steady flow of work from a local website SWINDONWEB and the kit has paid for itself many times over and has even lead to proper jobs. Its down to personal circumstances but i think there are always ways to increase profitabilty from this side by selling m/s spotters etc to the clients.Regards Alan(swindon)

Steve do you want all the kit ie 3 numatic ctd902 carpet cleaners,1 little fan(£50 i think from machinemart) and some shampoo in litre bottles. The best price i have seen the machines for is around £650 not sure whether plus vat or not so each should be worth say £300 but if all sold together £800 including fan shampoo etc.I have been trying to interest a local window cleaner in it as it would be already up and running with the website but no takers as yet.I of the machines has just had new connectors fitted and all work very well indeed and in my opinion are well suited to hiring to the public. You could just buy one and see how it goes though Steve as it doubles as a spotter if required.Regards Alan
