picked up a small commercial job .... the last chap was writting out an invoice on scraps of paper.
it said:
window cleaner.
windows cleaned
£10.00+vat .....
thing is the chap wasnt vat reg and was just doing it to make a few more quid...
-
was he in a car as well
-
not sure to be honest - just got the info off the new customer who told me as he found this out from another job he was doing ...
-
a lot of wc are dodgy, and only work for beer money, i have two lads recently come looking for work, who cant even read or write, >:(, but want to work as think it is easy as it must be great with all that cash in hand work
-
seems he been doing this on all jobs. so making 17.5% more on each job and soon to be 20%
-
he isnt makeing it unless he says he is vat registered and isnt, if he is doing that then he will get screwed over from the vat man for it
-
You don't have to be VAT registered until you are turning over £70k a year or more
-
think about it.
no name on his invoice - so cant be traced by that.
getting paid cash in hand for small local businesses ...
so he charges the customer £10 + vat, where as he should be charging just £10
-
re-think about it, if any customer has paid him by cheque he can be traced.
-
good for him charging vat as well,I left my invoice book at home once and they wanted a receipt on the back of an envelope but put my name and phone number on.you have to laugh :P
-
if the company is prepare to accept a scrap piece of paper as a receipt, no name or address then more fool them

good point - coz a vat invoice has a vat number on - so these comm custies aint too bright either. :P
-
Sounds like the guy wouldn' be able to work the vat out anyway :P
