Title: Hose and pump
Post by: dave0123 on November 14, 2010, 03:50:53 pm
At the moment i use 1/2 hose with 60PSI Flojet hose dont have a vairstream or anything just a tap with return to tank.

The problem is.. the 1/2 hose is really heavy and anoying i was thinking of gettin 50 meteres of 8mm minibore hose would it be ok with 60psi?

i was told to use 100 meteres of 1/2 hose because the pump would not cope with 6mm microbore

Why wouldn't the pump cope with 8mm bore ?

You'll be fine with 8mm, can't comment on 6mm. I've used 80m 0f 8mm with a 60psi pump no probs.

Tried 30 meters of Microbore today.. did pump out ok think a little less water came out and the pump was a bit more noisey.. but hopefully with another 30 meteres 60 in meteres in total should be ok!!

I hope :)

Great.. i should not have any problems then.. wish Omnipole never told me that as i spent alot money buying bulky 1/2 hose that i have hated ever since moving over to it

wouldn't have thought hose dia would make any odds,
as at the end you've got 2mm jets

It does. The smaller the bore & the longer the hose the more resistance is created thus the harder the pump works thus the more battery power required etc.  ;)
