If you're thinking of going wfp I would look a bit bigger than the astra, maybe berlingo, kangoo, combo etc.

good thinking batman, couple of jet engines on bk lol

nah on a serious note im not sure, i also sore a fiat ducato, but had my heart set on a fiat scudo but as i need a van for monday im limited for time as the blokes coming sat morning for my car so i have 1 1/2 days to get another vehicle.   another question, what will happen to my insurance on my car as the insurance on the van will be half of the car, will i just transfer it over and carry on paying as i was but cheaper or will they be tight and say pay all the rest of the policy off  :-[

Any chance you work around Guildford way? I've seen a guy with a green MX-5 here, just wondering if it's you.

I had a Astra van. 1999-2004 model.
Had a 350ltr flat tank in the back, one reel, pump battery etc and a little space. Was very weak when fully loaded with water, but was the best my budget could afford.

Looking again, I would probably search for a cheap, Berlingo, Partner etc.
I wanted the Astra as it looked better, but wasnt the most practical.

And every Astra van including my old one, I have seen, smokes!!

i used to be a mechanic and i tell you watch out when buying an Astra.  the engine revs good BUT isnt a long laster and ebay is full of ones that have blown up . Very pricey to fix cos its a jap engine .  dont bid before you have driven it mate

Have a look at gumtree.com. I'm after a new van at the moment, they have a lot of choice and the ads on gumtree are updated very regularly.

No, I was serious - you sound as if you are trying hard to make w/c work but you have very little dosh. A van at £700 is gonna be a "shed". If you have a reliable car already then putting your gear in a trailer is a very viable option. As is an estate car.

ant that van doesnt need 2 new wing mirrors it just needs the covers fitting back on,

I'll be honest with you, ever since i started my business i have had a astra van, i had 5 of the old shape mk3 and every single one of them either broke down or the engines blew up, I wasted so much money on old crappy vans i could have bought a much newer one, they were unreliable, slow, leaked oil diesel coolant etc

the 1.7td low blow engine (which is in that mk4 astra you have put the link up) is a pile of poop to put it bluntly, its underpowered and is basically a 30+ year old engine which started off in a bedford.

my opinion is do not waste your money on a crap old van its a false economy,

I currently have a 03 astravan 1.6 dual fuel lpg, its fitted with a 210l tank and does me fine, i've done 50k in it and not once has it broke down or had any major repairs done to it, it runs on lpg so 120 miles to a tenner so is dirt dirt cheap to run

it may be a bit small but then again i can still earn £180+ per day in it and thats wfp not trad, you dont need a giant van to earn money.

it will be forsale soon though as i want a combo van

well my car has gone now and im not allowed a trailer on my licence i have to take another test for trailers, they changed the licence a while ago. same with more than 7 seats, if a car has 8 i cant drive it, or if its over 3tons.

We use the vw caddy mk2 vans and find them great for wfp.
I have a 350lt tank and reel etc in and still plenty of room.
There are loads on eBay in your budget. Mine has done 170k
and still going strong.
