Title: Your thoughts... Gutter clearing text
Post by: Blue Frog Systems on November 11, 2010, 05:34:15 pm
Just wanted your thoughts on this text I'm sending out to my customers. I know I could ring them, but it will take a long time speaking to every one of them, so thought I'd text them. That way I've only got to speak to the ones that are interested.

Here we go...

Hi, its John-Paul your window cleaner. I have been asked by a number of customers that they require leaves / moss clearing from their gutters recentley. I have two spaces left towards the end of November. If you require this service, please contact me before friday 19th November. Thanks

What do you think ?

Worth a try.

Report back when you do.

I think it's a great idea, but is there any way you could fit the it into one txt message (160 chars I think)? Maybe it's not a problem on newer phones (mines a Sony T610 for years ago!)

Please take this positively.  It sounds a little weaselly-worded to me in terms of trying to skirt around what you're saying.  I mean that it sounds slightly like trick sales tactics (Buy the double glazing before I leave, as this offer expires tonight).  Why not just be straight: "Hi, it's John-Paul your window cleaner.  In case you didn't know, I also offer a gutter clearing service, removing moss, dirt and leaves.  This can help to protect your property by reducing the risk of overflow onto your walls.  Please call 01234 567890 for a quote"

Just my view, of course.

Ah, OK, thought it was a sales tactic.  Why for one week only (hoping it doesn't drive the thread too far off topic)?

Because im renting a gutter vac  Vin,

Have got an empty week, so want to get a full weeks worth of gutter clearing. And after that week im not going to rent it out unless i have a full days work to justify the cost of renting.

Am sending out these texts tomorrow. Then starting monday im taking a lad out knocking for gutter clearing customers in areas where there are alot of tall trees / clearly visable blocked gutters.

He used to come knocking with me for window cleaning customers... so this one should be a doddle for him. He's recentley blown his car up, so he needs the extra cash for a new engine ;D

Don't want to look like a stalker but didn't you offer a 15% discount if they took up your gutter cleaning service in November..

This is a great idea by the way - I'd consider texting them, phoning them and considering the value of each gutter clean it might be worth turning up and chatting to them.

One small problem with that.  Drive over to see someone, talk to them for ten or fifteen minutes, drive home.  You may well just have added 45 minutes to a 45 minute job.  If you can do it without a visit, so much better.
