just looking around at the price of 4040 membranes, and deciding on what to get, but does anyone use filmtec 4040 membranes? i know there are the hf4/5, but does anyone have experience with both? what is the best to get, my tap pressure is 80psi

80psi will give you good performance from your membrane. Is it for a static system or a van mount.
-
It's a van mount, i already have a filmtec but the hf4/5's are more common, but I've been happy with my filmtec but didn't know if the others were better

I find June at Gaps water good for advice. If it was a static system I would have suggested a 300gpd unit as the membranes are cheaper and there is less waste water. (Tend to be a bit slow for van mounted systems).

Are you sure?
4040 ROs produce less waste than the ROman type systems, you just need to adjust the waste tap!

My 300gpd ro-man unit has 3 membranes so the waste water is recycled twice. 4040 membranes usually run best on a ratio of 30 pure/70 waste. If you reduce this to 50/50 you will shorten the life of the membrane and the product water may not be as good.
My 300gpd runs around 50/50 and gives tds 004 from a 200 tds supply. The membrane is nearly 2 years old and still going strong (partly due to me using a water softener).

I use a 500GPD (5x100GPD membranes) RO man system on a static using a aquatec booster pump.
Are you sure the ratio is right? 30 pure to 70 waste? thats about the same as the Merlins.
During the summer I can get 60 pure to 40 waste that is with a booster pump.

30:70 is the ideal ratio for a 4040 ro membrane, although many run them around 50:50. With your set-up I am guessing the membranes are in line so you would recycle your waste water 4 times. Did you need to go for 5 membranes? Just curious. Mine is a static system so slow water production is not a problem.

Matt, hows business where you are now, picking up?
