Title: Christmas Spirit.
Post by: Colin Day on November 09, 2010, 08:18:32 am
I remember working for a carpet cleaner many years ago who gave each and every one of his customers a free bottle of red or white wine in the month of December. He reckoned people came back year after year and he worked solid up until Christmas Eve. I worked for him over Christmas once and I was finishing work at 7-8pm most nights :o

He was paying no more than £3 a bottle and the custy usually tipped a fiver or more, plus he'd factor the price of the wine into the overall carpet cleaning price.

Does anyone actually do this or something similar? (Excluding spot and stain remover)

No Wynne, I'm toying with the idea though...

The only problem I envisage is pulling up in a lay-by and guzzling a bottle myself... ;D ;D ;D

The Christmas rush doesn't seem to me to be as busy as it once was. I remember working till 9 o clock right up till Christmas Eve. You had to because January and February were absolutely dead. Now however January and February tend to be very busy.

I agree last January was hectic. Best ever!

Good idea with the wine though! I got a bottle of rose today and a bag of mars bar crispies both of which I shall stuff my face with tonight!

Arco sell big cans of windscreen anti-freeze for 99p give them away now and they will put them in the garage until its icey mornings........ which coincidentally is usually our slow time of year

put a sticker on it like this and they will remember what a nice guy you are :)

(and people wonder why I'm busy with work all year ;D ;D )

big spenders ;)

I  bought a few packs ( they come in packs of 12) i've given half a pack to a local carpet shop to stick in the fitters vans, some to customers, I gave a couple to my butcher

I was planning on leaving them on doorsteps of an upmarket estate down the road ( big 5-6 bed detached houses)

I get loads of wine given to me by the customers
think i will stick with being rewarded for good service rather than crawl.
I think a christmas card and a discount voucher for January or Febuary that can be used by them or a friend would be a better idea

Go to your local art college/uni and put an advert on a notice board. A few pints will be enough to keep a young art student happy :)
