Got a linen 3 piece to look at tonight, apparently it
says dry clean only.
Any ideas??

Yeah, Linen  :o

We have to have all our sheets dry cleaned - not  ::)

As with all suites ideally you should test by going through your full cleaning process and dry.

Might test an area and see how it looks the next day mate just to be sure..

The woman actually beat me to it with the sheets thing.
Yes will test a patch tonight but don't think there should
be problems with HWE using Drymaster.

Yeah it's the standard label to cover themselves. Some fabrics have a finish on them which can change the appearance after wet cleaning though.

If it is a printed linen you will find prochems fabric restorer a very effective prespray that will leave it considerably brighter.
I have always found linen a fairly dificult fabric to clean it also looks terrible when wet.

Yes I think I have some of that left Pete.
Although I've been using the Craftex
upholstery cleaner of late.
Find it does a better job on the shall we
say less than clean ones.

are you joking when  you make the comparrison betreen' linen' and' linen sheets' as though they are actually the same thing?

might be worth reading this;

Don't think there will be a problem.
It's 10% linen, 41% cotton and the
rest synthetic.

The reason manufacturers specify dry clean only is to cover their own backs.

If it said ok to wet clean and Mrs went and cleaned it herself either by hand or in the washing machine they would be getting claims coming back by the shed load.


This sounds like a bog standard wet cleanable suite, carry out the usual checks and you will be fine.

As mentioned labels saying don't dry clean , don't wash are usually there to protect the fire retardant BACK coating , hwe done carefully would not effect that, but putting it in a washing machine would.
Also labels are there to cover manufacturer against owner doing something stupid.
I've hwe flatweave linen suites in the past following usual tests.
