with the increase of van theft - here's a suggestion that works that the police use to find people , vans cars etc
leave a mobile switched on in the van over night etc
all the info on how it works is here - http://www.mobilelocators.com/how.php

Sounds like a good idea

So an old mobile permenantly attached to the battery and left on out of sight would be trackable by the police without having to subscribe to any service?
-
No you have to pay.
Intresting though
-
I guess if YOU want to track it you can pay for this service. But as with a lost individual, if your van gets nicked and you have a phone in it surely the Police could track it the same?
-
i suppose the cheapest way is an old mobile, pay as you go sim, cheers for the advice.
-
just disconnect the terminal from the battery, simple as that, only takes a few secs, easy and guaranteed
-
do it with google mail email its free with a mobile phone

Get an android powered phone. Download "where's my droid" app.
Does the same job FREE.

All you do is download the app, then if you send the phone a text containing the words "GPS my droid" it will text back exact co-ordinates where it is within a couple of feet.
