Title: Another broken into van/bogus collector post.
Post by: Pole 2 Pole on November 07, 2010, 09:23:36 am
In about 9 years, I've not had a sniff of anyone trying any of the above on me. In the last month, I've had reports from my customers of 2 separate incidents of people collecting for me in two totally different areas. And have been left with a. £680 bill for a new van door after some scrote "attempted" to break into the back. My van isn't even sign written. I chose not to for this very reason. I'm even thinking about taking the ladders off now,to further reduce interest from the bastads. Be careful out there lads n ladies. Something tells me it's gonna get worse leading up to Christmas.

I don't understand how these guys get away with collecting... Most of my customers are in when I clean their windows, or they leave me with a cheque hidden in the garden. But the odd ones where I have to go back, are always like 'ah so, how much do I owe you again?' - basically, if you're a bogus collector, your not gonna know prices etc... unless they steal a diary from your van.

Best way for us to eliminate this problem is by telling our customers, perhaps even write them a short letter, explaining that only you as the window cleaner will EVER collect money.

Unfortunately there are these little toe rags in every trade, and no one is safe

Only 1 person paid up bud. She realised soon after she'd been HAD. She paid me again. The poor lass unfortunately is going a bit downhill upstairs if you know what i mean. I think they prey on people like that. But yeh,how do they know how much is owed etc? Most paid on that day I cleaned them anyway.
