Title: Stolen vans ANPR
Post by: Dean Taberner on November 06, 2010, 07:03:53 pm
Hi guys,

Seeing that this is a common topic,

Can any guys who know of stolen vehicles add there reg's of the vehicles to this thread and i will check when I go on duty next that the vehicles are added to the ANPR (automatic Number Plate Recognition) system.

Having said that the reg plates will almost certainly have been removed.

ANPR is a fantastic way to catch people out like this as theyre located in a few places that crooks would never imagine.

Dean.

Dean, as I understand it, ANPR flags a reg no when it is tagged with an alert on it?

Does it also work where you can trace back movements of a vehicle? So any reg no given you can tap it in to the system and it would give you a report of where its been and at what time?

ps: no bbm any longer, so dont reply on that!

Hi Concept,

The honest answer is that I'm unsure about back movements, its a good question though and ill check it out.

Shame about the bbm.

Dean.

If not, maybe we can get the WCP guys to write a program that will accomodate this feature, without support of course   ;)

Dean.

I tell you what would be a help is if the coppers that i pay a lot of tax towards actually gave a poop, put down thier dunkin doughnut and actually got of their arses and done something!!

My vans been reported and placed on the VR jobbie and thats all they have done. i phone them, ask if its been spotted, they say no, and then forget about me.

I think i might jack my business is and start stealing cars cause it seems like you can get away with it pretty damn easy as they couldn't give a toss

leave a mobile switched on in your van over night , will do the same thing as a tracker .

i know cos thats how i got lifted by the police driving up from essex to north wales ,  they can pin point where you/van is parked by where you are to the mast's around it .

How do i know lol ---- well my EX wife is a copper of 20 years !!!  and had me lifted at a new girlfriend's house  :o for breaking into my OWN house ....

it isnt hard for a thief to target us. they just  have to look in yellow pages and see what gear we have....hot wfp upto 60ft, pressure washing, carpet cleaning  so straight away they know there target. with the address of us there too...i think its too much a coincidence that a lot of wcc vans get stollen. Rarely here of cars with trad gear going walkies hey.

How does that work with the mobile?

Might be a idea to get a old mobile phone in van, stick it under seat and wire it up to battery with a 12v charger and have it on charge when your away from van, im forever leaving my charger in, they dont drain that much juice either.
