Title: 4040 production rates
Post by: Dave Anderson on November 05, 2010, 09:46:07 pm
Hi I have just been filling my new water tank and it has taken 25,5 hours to fill the tank which by my reckoning is 1869ish litres, so around 73,33 litres per hour.

50psi 325 tds in > 5 after membrane > 0 after DI

HF5-4040

Air temp 14deg ish...

How much does your r/o produce?

Cheers
Dave.

that seems quite slow, do you have the waste tap open at all to get your tds lower?

I have really noticed a slow down in the production rates dropping in-line with the temps which is the norm...the membrane was first installed and used April 09.

How long is a membrane supposed to be used for? the filters are changed every 3 to 4 months depending on use...I normally use 300 to 450 litres per day x 4 days per week.

Cheers
Dave.

My 4040 fills a 650ltr Ibc in around 2 and half hours, membrane should last around 2 years if you change carbon and chlorine filter regular

Just moved all the r/o setup so rechecked all the timings and numbers...

So outside airtemp is around 11 deg

Water in 330
Water after Membrane 5
50 psi pressure

Did a 1 minute check and waste was 3,4 litres and good was 1,2 so . . .

35% good 65% waste...so what do you get? I am just trying to  see what others are getting especially those who are not using pumps to boost their pressure. I am starting to think the membrane might be dying...but am not sure as all my notes on production rates I cannot find from when I first got the membrane.

Cheers
Dave.

if you are getting 5 after membrane i would say there is nothing wrong with it what so ever, that is a very good output.

I suppose it was the litres out that I was concerned about...not that I need to make 300 litres an hour..I have a 2000 litre tank so when the van is filled on sunday and the tank is full....I would only need to make the water once a week.
