Title: advice on 1st low profile bonnet clean
Post by: Craig - CW Window Cleaning on October 31, 2010, 03:49:56 pm
Hi all,

I have my first bonnet clean coming up on some low profile carpet tiles (loop) pile.
I have rotary machine carpet shampoo brush and soil sorbs pads, and a selection of Fusion clean, Fusion 8, M Power and some of the usual prochem stuff.
There are a couple of tea stains and water marks from a rug doctor.

any advice on what should be my plan of attack?

many thanks

craig

Hi Craig,

Iv always found Rotobtite 2 to be good with the tea and coffee stains. Good luck with the bonneting makes nice change from hwe. Use citus gel on oily marks, not solvents such as solvall or solvex as you can get bitumen bleed.

I wouldn't even use the gel solvents, they can still cause just as much of a problem.  But the thing is, you're not extracting so it won't be a problem until the next time you extract it and all these funny brown patches appear ::)

For spotting on carpet tiles I use a strong mix of HD microsplitter, gets out anything that solvents would.

Fusion Clean = magic potion

Works like a dream.

I would recommend a grey XR pad also from solutions.

Jim,

Thats good info. I will give it a go.

Would the hd get chewing gum off?  Would you use a steam gun coupled with it?

How strong mix do you use?

thanks

Andy

I would pre vacuum first with a host dryvacuum, then spray surround ultra onto the carpet area to be cleaned.I then would scrub if needed then finish with a white pad.Great results everytime, key to the clean stage 1 drawing out all the dry dust but the finish with white pad with the new encap product finishes brilliant and smells great.

Pour 1 litre hot water on pad

Jason,

What is the thinking behind this?

Is the pad already soaked / wrung out or are you using a dry pad?

Andy for spotting I use HD at about 1:10.  It's no good on gum.  The only things good for gum are bad for bitumen backed tiles, to be honest I don't promise gum removal and don't really attempt it unless it's only the odd bit.  High heat is enough normally, with a hand tool, sometimes a stanley paint scraper or penknife helps to loosen it first.

Gum/blu-tak is a housekeeping problem, I advise customers to include it in their daily contract cleaning rather than leaving it 3 years and expecting a miracle from a carpet cleaner ::)

Normally mentioning £2 per gum wad to remove convinces them it's better to deal with it the other way ;)

I use pads straight from the washing machine, nearly dry.

What is the thinking behind this?

It's missing out the 'soak' and 'wring out' stages.
If you are careful enough you can evenly distribute the hot water onto a dry pad which will have the same amount of liquid in it for use, as per soaking then wringing out.

I have never been into that soaking and wringing thing , there seems to be no logic in it , I tried it a few times on a Texatherm system , the results were not even close to my normal standards.

No chem on the pads ,  pre spray on the carpet though , scrubbed in on most jobs .

Who has tested a system with Chem on the pads , and chem not on the pads?

I know Chem dry have , and found that no chem works best . That is how I was trained ,so that is the procedure I stick to .

I would vaccuum first with host machine, then I would spray with Surround Ultra then pass over with bonnet red pads first then clean over with white pads.

Do you mean a red floor buffing pad to agitate?
