Got a bigger van with a bigger engine now and the tax is way cheaper :)
Brother in law has to pay £60 more for his Discovery than I do on my Hiace too.
-
How much for 12 months Dave?
-
£125 - seems really cheap for a 2.5 diesel engine. Must be lower power than my Dispatch was even though it's bigger. All to do with what it chucks out the back I suppose.
Euro 4 light goods vehicle - just had a look on the gov. website - bit complicated.

My "euro 4 " 1250cc turbo diesel doblo is nearly £200 a year! :o :o the same price as my 10 year old 1.9D kangoo!
Crazy!

my 2007 fiat doblo 1.3 diesel engine is £185,euro 4 .and the same van pre 2007 are £125 per year. and i also have 2001 skoda 1.9l diesel and pay £90 per year.it doesn't make sense

Yup! My Euro 4 Doblo 1250 is £125 on a 56 plate Nov 06 model. Two months later and it would be loads more. That's because you've now got Euro 5 for cheapy cheaps and Euro 4 isn't the best emissions standard after Jan 1 2007.
My May 2001 Pug Estate (110bhp 2 litre diesel) is £125; but if I had had a Feb 2001 2 litre 90hp diesel it would be £185!
Luck of the draw for me - I didn't plan any of it.

What a cock up - what kind of numpties are in charge of these rules ???

There are probably changes on the way so that vans are taxed the same as cars. i.e according to emissions.
