Title: "Don't come again"
Post by: Klean07 on October 28, 2010, 08:32:38 am
I've had two custies who recently told me not to come again. Although one owed me two months money and the other 3 months. There was no "please" or "thankyou just don't come again. I've said it before and I'll say it again some custies treat us wcs like rubbish!!

It happens mate.

Oh, unless you're a Clean-it-up forum member. Things like that never happen to them. So you'll be told soon that's it's your fault. ;D

I suppose like me you trust people, there not in you do it; wait for a cheque in the post that doesn't show.

I only do twice without payment.

Bob do you go out collecting?/is this how you keep out of trouble?

I did get my money. But my point was that custie never thanked me for coming all those years etc. Just a blatant "don't come again remark"!!!

i lost a customer yesterday.£18 every 8 weeks and had a quote for £14 and ask me if i would match that and said no i don't lower my prices.she went with the other window cleaner.i was a good job but i always had to be there between 15.30-16 and always call the night before the clean.i had it for nearly 2 years.some of them just don't care about loyalty

I have a strong policy to never to go back to someone that dumped you.

This is that rare thing 'a good thread', because the replies are realistic.

I lose quite a few. When you get over 500 people move, die, lose their job, or only wanted a one off in the first place and hung about for two cleans to give a bit of credibility.

There are also those that read things into chance remarks you might make and think you rude.Often  negative comments about the previous window cleaner leave you thinking, what was wrong with that?

For many we are not as brilliant as we think we are.We are seen as the least worst option. If a customer decides they don't like you they will sack you, and i believe this is the most common reason. Some of the older wc's say 'i only work for people i like', and i believe this is the reason.

You can be sacked for not closing a gate, putting your hose on flowers, or asking a friendly question that they think nosey.

The thing is don't take it personally, as so many do.It's a business try and remember that.

Good answer that Slumps. Turn it around the other way too and think of the people in your life that pee you off.
The recycle bin men I would willingly sack if I could - why do they make so much noise? Why do they only work in the school run/going to work hours? Why do they always leave the friggin box in front of my van?
Same with dustmen, they always leave the bins in such a way that I can't reverse down my drive.
Shop assistants wind me up, cold callers and tele-sales people always get an earfull.

We are no different, human nature I suppose and we are still seen as low lifes at the end of the day who shouldn't be able to afford a shiny van or live a normal life.  ;D

Now that i understand this - our shared view- i am able to take advantage and get the customers to do what i want, which apart from not sacking me, which is something i take my chance with, is to refer me on to others.

Mind control is probably too strong a word for it, but i am definitley able to manipulate them into recommending me.I have the lowest possible opinion of their base motives and i exploit this stupidity ruthlessly. And why not?

There are a lot like that. Or people get a bit of a cash crisis and you are an easy cost to eliminate.

makes me laugh they have a cash crisis and sack the window cleaner £5-20 a month but nothing of spending £6 a day on ciggies would say hay I wont bother washing my clothes because i can save £10 a month on soap powder. I think these dont come again folk have either got fed up with you or found some one cheaper plenty of new guys setting up and have nt a clue how to price up.
