hi ive just started my own cleaning business as my last cleaning job hasnt got enough hours for me so decided to start up myself, and wondered if anyone had any template documents they could send me. Also i need help with what sort of letter to send to businesses to ask if there intrested in any cleaning.

If private customers pay cash in hand do i need to still invoice them or is there another way of recording it.

The sort of letter you would send would be a registered post letter  8)

Just stick to the private customers for now until you get yourself a bit more established. Get yourself uniformed, Insured, a sign written vehicle and some consumables. A web site too maybe with some of your accreditations. Bicsc certs etc.
Its gonna be difficult for you to approach offices and business's competing with larger firms with professional reps etc. Maybe provide an ironing service locally or general type stuff, leave some homemade flyers around maybe? I don't really know exactly what areas your looking to cater for? Are you a complete novice?

A duplicate invoice book / receipt book is handy to have for your customers,  perhaps with a rubber stamp with your business name etc.
All income and outgoings can and will need to be recorded on a simple spread sheet, as you will need these figures for your tax return. If you drop me an email ( address in profile) I will send you some I have used.
Don't forget to register as self employed with HMRC within 3 months of starting your business.

Agree with Neil, try and build up in the private/domestic side first.

hi ive got everything i need and i have a website setup,insurance,tax sorted and i use to work for a cleaning company where i was pretty independent and use to do it by myself so i know what im doing work wise,its just really the account side of it all as ive never had my own business so im new to doing all that side of it

Would you consider doing a book keeping course or something like. Either part time or distance learning. With regards to sending out letters of intro to offices and prop management firms. I wouldn't bother. Its all sewn up and these letters are just usually binned a junk mail.
