Title: Just started
Post by: Ajpick on October 21, 2010, 05:11:21 pm
Hi,
I've justed started my business coming up 2 months now and its been quite. Ive had a few jobs and the clients have been happy with the results.

I've put out getting on for 10,000 flyers, letters, ads in papers and put up a local ad board. Is there anything else anyone of you experienced guys can suggest?

I've really got the bug for it and just want to kick on with it all, just need the phone to ring!!!.
Thanks
J (Wiltshire)

These are tough times for all. You may have read my "Gone slow" post. I have been CC since 1988 and never known it this quite. I wish you the best of luck.

These are the best of times. These are the worst of times.

Coming up to xmas you should be out leafleting and not paying someone to do it. I know its a slog but put your ipod on and do some serious walking. Better than sitting waiting for the phone to ring!

do you have a website?
are you listed on business directories?
google maps/ business listing?

never ever sit and wait for the phone to ring.... if it aint ringing get out there and make yourself known..... people see your van parked on your drive in working hours day after day , what do they think? oh hes good at his job he never leaves the house..... or he cant be much good he's never out working?
even just driving around your local area with your name on the van gets you noticed, might not make the phone ring now, but when they do need your services they will remember that they have seen you around.
you gotta work damn hard at building a reputation in this game and its bloody hard work, if your in for the long haul then give it all you've got.
takes a good few years to be in a position where you dont panic when its quiet, and trust me there will be lots of those.

If you already have some happy customers offer them a free carpet clean if they get you three referalls , I use 10% promotional cards that they can pass on to their friends and family , you'd be surprised how well this works as happy customers are your best method of marketing esp if they also have an incentive,
We have fallen back on this in years past when things started slowing up and is good for generating new clients quickly
