First time I've been to quote on a large quantity of chairs so just looking for some advice for the following please : what price per chair ?
80 x std chairs ( seat base and half back )
10 x high back computer chairs
10 x tub chairs
All cream and pretty grubby
How long with a porty should I allow ? all chairs will be in one area
Thanks

I've only done a batch of chairs once.
Did 70 seat and half back, these were the orange ones you
see a lot.
I charged £70 and it wasn't enough, they take longer than
you think.
It was last summer and I think it took me about 4 hours and
some of them looked not much better, although customer was
happy (Muslim welfare centre at that)

A pound a chair!?? :o

Thought about 2 minutes a chair WRONG!!!!!!!!!!
As a matter of interest what would you charge.

I'd charge more than a pound a chair.
As has already been said they take a lot longer than you might think.
I did just 6 dining chairs the other day (although they were completely upholstered from top to bottom) and it took forever!
-
You will find you slow down as each chair is done so just because 1 chair takes you 4 mins doesnt mean the rest will mate.
-
And boy is it boring

Used to do a well know comedy club. 350 chairs/stools at a time. £1.25 chairs/75p stools. Killer of a job. They've changed to vinyl now, bit of a relief actually!
-
Would the 'Muslim welfare centre' want to pay more than a quid a chair?
Boll***s would they!
-
In fact, I hate cleaning chairs/upholstery full stop!
-
I was thinking:
£2.50 per std chair
£5.00 per high back computer chair
£9.50 per tub seat
Am I far out at that ?

on your list
80 @ 3 mins
10 @ 4mins
10 @ 6 mins
this is 1 man, vac-prespray-scrub-extract.
so take the tub chairs..... if you want £60/hr then each chair must cost £10.
you can do the maths on the other items,

Paul,
You're not far out with those prices, perhaps a touch more depending on much you want the job.

Mike
10 chairs @ £10 a chair @ 6 mins a chair is £100 per hour.
John

Me i would want £300 to £350 tresils or table to place them on if not a new back oh and a new wrist

Mike
10 chairs @ £10 a chair @ 6 mins a chair is £100 per hour.
John
EVEN BETTER!!!!!! a £100 an hour ;D ;D ;D
don't we all earn that anyhow ;)
-
Mike yeah if your being bent over it but not for cleaning it ;D ;D
-
I was thinking:
£2.50 per std chair
£5.00 per high back computer chair
£9.50 per tub seat
Am I far out at that ?
Paul
£4 std chair
£7 high back
£15 tub seat
Take a young 18year old with you to help do the vac, prespray and agitation, and moving about of chairs. Pay him £5 per hour.
It will take longer then you think and you will be brain dead at the end of it.
-
Minimum £5 a chair Prob double at £10 for high backs> Hard work comes at a cost so you shouldnt work for nothing just to fill your diary.
-
Paul if you are doing them on a wooden floor make sure you do them on dust sheets to protect the floor . The floor does tend to get soaked .

Paul how much do you normally charge mate? go along those lines and maybe work a helper into the equasion mate to get the job done .
-
Like everyone has said, it'll take longer than you think.
If the legs and frame work is made of wood, give them a wipe down after you hwe each chair.
I like the fact how everyone starts shooting high prices on here :) I mean really?? Pintch of salt springs to mind!!
Its ok if you have no competion in your town or your only competion is Chempoope or a fast traker. But realistically, if you "want" the commercial work your prices sound about right. I'd even knock a 10er off the total.

80 x std chairs ( seat base and half back )
I've just quoted much the same, along with the carpet at the same place.
I'm 99% sure I won't get it even at £2.50 each, but then this is brain numbing back aching work so I'm not too bothered.
-
Line them all up and do them with a rotary, I hear there quite quick at cleaning ;)
