Title: Business Banking
Post by: Sean Dyer on October 19, 2010, 06:09:33 pm
I know alot of you like me stick your dough into current account

But i am fed up of bank being funny about it and think its time to split personal and business banking to simplify accounting and in case of any investigations

anyway point is i reckon alliance and leicester are the best bet with there pay in over £1000 a month and pay nothing unless you deposit over £3000 cash then they charge you 0.5% on cash over 3k

anyone know any better deals, ive looked at some of the free banking offers but once the honey moon is over there charges are pretty high , and cant be bothered changing banks every 2 years looking for deals as it means new cards, books, etc

also a&l let you deposit at post office which is always gonna be nearer than a branch!

opinions???

i changed to A&L 1 yr ago last october, from lloyds, (who were about to charge me about £40 a month after the free banking period. scum!

so far so good, my local quiet post office is 1/2 a mile down the street, and they send my chqs off for free, and accept my cash too. havent had any probs so far, except been charged £7.50 per bounced chq about 5 times in a year! i think they are stopping that charge though?

i changed my current account too to A&L, as i thought why should lloyds have any benefit of my money if theyre not prepared to give me free banking!

1000 in chq and/ or cash i think , you just have to deposit 1k a month to have free banking as far as i can work out but you might wanna check if your gonna go for it, but yeh i am 99% its just 1k

there are charges for what they call "unusual" requests ie informal overdraft , international transfers , bounced chqs, etc but day to day is free

only catch is you get charged for anymore than 3k in cash in one month

have you tried abbey, free banking for life but you do have to use machines to deposit cash and cheques in envelopes, but it does save queueing, can access account online too, if you have any coins just put them in bags for current a/c.
