Doing builder's clean on my own house... need to remove glue left after removing stickers from new windows and doors. Could use blade but there are loads and don't want to run risk of scratching... someone suggested acetone? Any other simple chemical you know about will let me just wipe them off?

Not sure about chemicals but if you do end up using a scraper get a good one "unger trim" read the instructions and you should be fine. Make sure the glass is wet.

Cany use White spirit, it will need a little bit of persuasion but it will remove it

There is a chemical called Oil Flo 141. I'ts brilliant for that. We put it in a spray bottle to make it last longer. You don't need much. Spray the glue, rub with a cloth or a sponge and leave it a minute if you can - do all the stickers like this and then go back and clean them as normal and it just dissolves it.

Excellent thank you guys ;)

why is the builder not doing the clean?

Hi,
Good tip that by putting it in a spray bottle, will do it myself. An alternative is wetting the window then use a Brillo pad.

Soap up the area before scraping, you will not scratch the glass in a million years

I use WD40 works very well or solvent cleaner

Methylated spirits or isopropanol will make it disappear before your very eyes! ;)

I always carry a small tin of solvent cleaner. Not only will it remove glue from the glass, it's also useful for 'ironing out' light scratches on upvc amongst other things.

try some cillit bang in water and a scraper that will sort it out may aswell do the frames as you are up there
