Hi there
I am sure this is very similar to alot of post's been put on here but i am working in an £18000 a year job in a factory which is very secure and i like working there but i know i will probably have to work for another 5 years to get to 20k so No it will not make me rich!
So while the money is guaranteed i know you wont make any real money till you are working for yourself.
There are a few drawbacks though as with everything, I have never worked a window cleaning round before but i know i am capable of picking it up quickly and am willing to do what is necessary! I am also broke every month so there is not alot of money to get this up and running, i was thinking of starting doing Saturdays and then when i have them days full maybe taking the plunge! The other worry is a bought a house in April and me and the missus had a baby girl in July so while the job pays the bills and always will but not much more.
Also there seems to be quite a few w/c around Bolton even on my street but when 1 asked to do ours and I said yes we never saw them again, And so i suppose i was inspired!
Anyway any help or advise anyone could give would be very much apreciated!
As I said I am looking to start in the Bolton area
thanks

If I was you I would wait till things improve or just do part time and see how you get on.
At the moment at your job you get sick pay and paid holidays not when self employed,or when its peeing it down or freezing cold or people say miss us out this time.
yes its great being self employed. Regards Hotsteam

Hi E Nugget
I live in atherton mate so just up the road. Im not trying to put you off but i know how many window cleaners their are around here and how many streets their are without a w/c. Its going to be hard pal but all you can do is try. I would defo not quit my job just yet if i was you i would try and build up a little saturday round over the winter just enough so you can keep busy and get experience BUT never turn work down. If the work gets to much for you just get another lad that has done some cleaning before and learn off him. When the winter is over try and knock on as many doors as you can because this is when alot of cowboy wc's would have give up because it "cold" ha!
Any questions or help just give me a shout on here pal because im only up the road.

I dont have any huge expectations of this just taking off, I have had a door to door sales job before and know the long hours you cn put in with no joy so i am prepared for all that. My hope is that by about this times next year i will be up and running, As with having a baby im not willing to take any stupid risks like just quiting and hoping it all works out.
Danny i am sure you have a much better idea than me about how many w/c there in the bolton area, I am willing to travel around to get work and hopefully have a round that i can work in a different area each day/week. Do you think there is much room for more w/c in my area or will i be struggling to get any decent kind of round together?
I am willing to put in a free days work to get some experience and a better idea of what i a m letting myself in for!!

start part time, get canvassers and then go for it!
20k is easily achieveable,go straight for wfp, clean conny roofs and do driveway cleaning and you can make so much more fella!

Nugent my mate actualy cleans in farnworth near the jaguar dealership and he just dropped on that. Someone told him their was no wc there and he went a knocked on doors and got work. Its as easy as that. Some roads have them others dont! Get knocking mate and give it a go. As for me give you a couple days work iv already got a lad part time when i need him so i cant realy help you. You should go and buy some trad stuff and just practice practice practice. Any more questions just give me a shout.
PS Gav...could you please f**k off. Cheers ;D ;D ;D
