Post by: Ian101 on October 13, 2010, 10:17:46 am
Forgot to make some pure water last night as missus dragged me out looking at houses  :( (not rich anymore so downsizing  :) ) ... suppose its better than turning it on to fill a barrel and forgetting about it for 4 hours ... garage floor still very clean though 4 weeks later !

so got me RO on now but takes 90 minutes to make 25litres  :(     must buy that pump I keep saying im going to buy

got a few wfp only houses today as well.

FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK. HAD HALF A TANK FULL OF WATER STILL IN THE VAN FROM YESTERDAY SO START FILLING THE TANK AND FORGOT ABOUT IT, WENT OUT TO A BEAUTIFUL WATERFALL FLOWING IN A PERFECT SHEET DOWN THE SIDE OF THE TANK! NOT A GOOD START.

im usually pretty well organized and im getting into a routine of end of the day jobs in preparation for the next day.

i like to fill up the night before if poss but if i need the van at night for anything i fill up in the morning.it only takes 40 mins to fill 250-300L OF PURE for the days work due to DI only.

i did flood the van a couple of times in the first couple of weeks though!

i have a toolbox with spare connectors/fuses/tape/glue/screwdrivers/etc in the van plus a spare pole to minimize downtime at work.

common sense really.

I don’t have a relay fitted to my new van yet, I am so used to the other vans having one, I just jumped in and drove off the other day.
It was only when I heard the battery charger fall off the tank and slam into the back door, and then the cable getting dragged under the garage door that I realised my mistake.
Note to self, FIT A RELAY ASAP!!!!

Ian, just as an aside, there is a place on the dock road that does IBC's for £20 and they are in perfect nick. You should get one and leave it on for ages till its full. You wouldt' have that problem again. Give a shout if you want the address.

Almost hit a new volvo today trying to squeeze through volvo one side and mercedes the other side. Had about 5mm to spare but the owner of the merc nearly crapped herself as I just missed her at speed ;D

Bedford Place (L20), just off Derby Road by the petrol station. Its a dead end, drive in bedford place and its the last place on the right, just go in a see the gaffer in the portacabin. Might be called 'morrisons'. I'll be in there myself on Monday as i'm getting another one so i can pull the 40/40 out of the van.

Reversed my VW Transporter into a woman on a brand new moped who was not visible in my mirrors (didn't know she was there!) wondered what I was hitting. Her and the bike was on the floor, A couple of foreign gentlemen were watching from the road side, didn't rush to help her, As soon as she started to talk to them they casually walked off (a couple of illegals i think!). She's fine £1,200 damage, Insurance can sort it out, Doh!  :P

Having mostly very compact work, I get into the habit of leaving my pole extended when I put it in the carrier on the trolley.
I was doing a job a couple of weeks ago when it started raining heavily.
I sat in the car for a while to see if it would pass.
After 20 mins I decided to call it a day, got out of the car and pushed my trolley up the trailer ramp and set off for home. 30 miles later when I got home I realised I had driven home with my pole fully extended, well it had been when I left.
I must have hit the first bridge I came to, can't understand that nobody flashed their lights or anything.
I lost the brush and the pole was mangled [ only a Harris], but what impressed me most was that the Stanley paint pad swivel had survived being dragged for 30 miles, and was still usable.
