cant belive today i paid 127.8 :o it was some super diesel, all the norm diesels were out of use, convenient hey. im looking into chip fat, i waatched a clip on youtube with running it on used oil, as long as you have 30% diesel it wont freeze up or clog pipes
-
bio diesels cheap bout 97p a litre ;) ;)
-
u seen how much veg oil is going for 1L £1.18 same as petrol lol ;D
-
try bio diesel m8 ;)
-
:o :o :o a quid a litre ;D heres a link to where they sell it lads http://www.biodieselfillingstations.co.uk/region02.htm#Percentage%20Mix%20&%20Source:

You remember what an old fashioned chip pan looked like? Use cooking oil in any dilution when the engine is cold and the insides of your engine will look like that. Been there, done it, and paid heavily for it.
Also, if you start using bio fuel, buy a new fuel filter now. Bio diesel will clean all the old muck out the tank and pipes and clog up the filter. I've been using bio diesel for 3 years - it's much better for the engine and the engine runs much quieter as the burn rate is slower.
-
does it make any diff to power and mpg??? :-\ if i can get more mpg ill be a happy chappy
-
You get slightly slower acceleration but about 10% to 15% better mpg. Bio fuel, because it 'explodes' slower it gives more power over the whole downward stroke of the piston giving more efficiency. Normal diesel explodes to fast which is why a diesel engine sounds 'clunk clunk clunk'.
One drawback though, sometimes when in traffic, it can stink like an old chip pan.
Originally, the diesel engine was designed to run on peanut oil and a diesel engine can run on any heavy oil - soya, rape seed, etc or any mixture including old sump oil provided it's been cracked properly.
-
;D ;D yeh theres this bloke in my village who has a old nissan 3 liter thing tht smells like a chip van but u kno when hes coming lol might av a look at this option, theres a place nar me who lets u have an account and the pumps open 24/7. orrr ill look at the lpg route, dunno bout lpg tho :-\ anything to save me sum pennies. you wait and see the goverment put bio diesel up to 1.20 soon
-
lpg is for petrol engines, not diesel
-
ok thats closed that idea lmao ;D ;D
-
One other great thing about bio fuel, because it's much less explosive than normal diesel, it can be stored in almost any plastic container. It is very very low on the list of explosive fuels/chemicals and wouldn't go up if you smoked near it although I havn't tested that fact out.
I buy a tank full and then fill up 8 X 25ltr containers and stick them in my garage as it's a bit of a drive to buy it. Places that sell bio fuel are few and fare between.
I pay 97p a litre.
-
It's about 86 88 $ a barrel at the moment for crude. It's going upto 150-200 $ a barrel in the next 6-12mths.
-
thers a place in bury ;)

Just wondering how that would work with some vans as I don't think I would risk it. On some vans the fuel pump relies on the oil content in diesel so that they don't seize up (this is what I've been told but I don't have the mechanical knowledge to know different).

A good link but there's nowhere close enough to me to make it viable.

I pay £122.9 in Tescos, but at the local 2 x private filling stations diesel is £125.9. It hasn't been lower than £121.9 for months, though did go up to £131.9 at its height. As a newbie I based my cashflow on that price last year when I started.
In the end it's going to go up as it's a finite resource.
As an aside we have an oil fired boiler/range that we inherited when we moved here in 2007. It does our DHW and CH. I fill up with a 1000 litres 4 or 5 times a year depending on how cold it's been. When we moved in we paid £339 for 1000 litres of oil; at the height of the oil prices it was £606 for a 100l; now its around £440. So, on £440 and filling up only 4 x a year we pay £1760 or £146 per month. A lot of people are complaining about their gas bills going up, and rightly too, but if you are paying less than £146 a month for gas consider yourself lucky. Our eleccy bill is £48 pm. We would change the boiler but it would mean a total revamp of the kitchen / plumbing as the range is the only source of heat in the kitchen.

cheap leccy bill mines 60 a month lol ;D and 50 gas ::) :-[
