One of my lads snapped his 17’ carbon/glass pole today.
He seems a bit heavy handed so am thinking of maybe getting him a brodex Hydra 3yg aluminium pole in the hope it last longer.
My question is to those of you who have swapped to this pole from a lighter one, did you notice much difference in weight? And therefore in production?

i find brodex hydra alloy good all round reasonbly light 18ft pole will outlast your previous pole used extel pole before got fed up replacing clamps due to pole wear had mine 9 months now the black finish has come off a bit no biggy really and i have had to re-glue clamps to pole sections 3 times but pole worked well until i got home and glued them and let glue cure overnight

ive got the brodex hydra alloy 25ft pole and find it excellent for a few country houses(tops only)and a few commercial.its too heavy and long(closed length)for everyday regular run of the mill work though!i use a clx 22footer for most of my work. ;) ;D ;D

why dont you take the bottom section off 25ft hydra and get and end cap thats what i do with mine 99 % of the time only need it be 25ft for a few 3 storey townhouses

I did that with mine. It also reduces the weight.

Turns out I may have been saved having to buy a new pole, (at least for a short while)
When the lad got back with the boken pole it turns out the break is very close to the clamp so I am hoping I can salvage it this weekend to get a little more life out of it.
I am still going to consider the 3yg though as i guess it will need replacing soon, plus one of my other poles is on its last legs.
So anymore of you with experience of these I would be interested in hearing.

iv two good poles ,i dont glue the clames just shuv em back on with tinfole reaped rownd

the good thing about the hydra alloy is its 3yr waranty if you manage to break it they'll replace it, good for heavy handed employees

why should i take the last section off the hydra when ive got a 22ft clx that i use on the majority of my work?
22ft clx main pole
25ft hydra a few big country houses/commercial(that the clx cant reach!)also better to use when windy! ;) ;D
20ft n tech glass fibre emergency pole
i did take a section off the hydra when my clamp on the clx snapped off mid morning(i didnt have my n-tech with me)and it was ok but i use a pole tap and had to faff about changing it to the next section of pole! ::) ::)

just a suggestion mate if you have probs with other pole, at least you wont be using a pole thats to heavy and straining yourself using 25ft hydra, I use mine for just over an hour on one job and i could'nt use it much longer than that but have no probs at all when its 18ft pole , I bought a 25ft and an 18ft not realising i could take sections off which now means i have a brand new pole gathering dust until needed

One of my blokes was going through poles about every 3 months. I got him a Cleantech alloy pole and converted it. That was 18 months ago, all he does now is replace the clamp inners every few weeks at a couple of quid each.

They are not that heavy, you only notice it for the first 1 or 2 days.
