Title: Gutter clearing pricing
Post by: Steven Shoreditch on October 07, 2010, 06:34:52 pm
Is £50 too much to charge to clear 30m of gutters?

nope

id imagine most charge £50 standard for 3 bed or £1 a metre to clear and upto 5x that to clean and clear

Cheers for that.

I just gave a quote (4 bed, gable ends, so clear runs front and back), and they said that thought it was 'a lot of money', they would still go for it becasue they are leaking in some way.

Lots on here would go in at £3-£4 per metre.

And because they dont want to do it themselves. They have a choice whether or not they accept your quote, they have every right to go elsewhere for a 2nd, 3 rd or 4th quote.

an  ageing INDIAN  rang me up ,told me id be cleaning her gutters inside and out for 15 quid,as MRS PATEL said that was my price!  i went along to look at the job,and purely because i was already there said id do it now for £25

oh,but but but, HOW ABOUT 20?  She replied.
"tell you what, just think about it "  was my reply and i quickly   drove off

then 6 months later she rang me,
" you said 20,that includes fascias and you said you would do all the front windows in this price ,can you do it very soon?  collect your money later if we arent in "

  YEAH RIGHT !

Some people...

Anyway, let's say you did them off a ladder and charged £50, then got a vac and did them in half the time, can you still charge the same?

yes its a once a year job. as far as im aware people dont quote any less now they have wfp, i certainly dont. if they say anything point out the fact its a once a year job, your outlay on equipment has to be paid for and someone off ladders would charge the same if not more.

gutters need pricing right its one off dangerous smelly horrid work (on a ladder, dont have a vac)

i do some building s every 12 months sometimes 6 monthly & make a killing, 2 of us for day split 1200 .00 happy days (not 50 / 50 either :) )
its hard graft though , mere mortals would take days to do it

I might get a vac - don't think I could stand a ladder - I mean, you have one hand holding a bucket (don't you?), another a trowel, so how do you keep yourself safe?

I think I know the answer to that  ::)

Or jam the feet of the ladder into the grass and so thereby keep the ladder from touching the gutter? Why?
