hi folks, we have a 500lt van mount but always run out of water too early so was thinking of taking an extra 8x25lt barrels for the trolley...
just wondered has anyone invented a device to fill all of them at once rather than individually filling?
will be doing it from the pump from the van..

Cant really think of a way to fill them at once.
Will you be taking the barrels full?
The pump in the van will take about 10 mins to fill a barrel unless it a sub pump.

yes be taking full one's so we dont run out too early..
we usally fill and go during the day from the large tank, prob use about 8-10 barrels so thats at leat 200lt's taken from the tank.. Would like to find a way to fill all 8 at night whilst filling the main tank up.
There is a booster pump so wont take that long, maybe some long hose with 8 holes in it..

You want to use a 240v sub pump and fill from home. Don't bother with 12v pumps when you are at home. Takes way too long in comparison.
You can pick 240v sub pumps up at bnq or somewhere for £30 something quid. It will pay for itself in saved time within a few days.

Use a di canister and it'll take 10 mins to do them all from a tap.

i fill 10-12 barrels every night or morning!takes me 40 mins(DI ONLY)for my trolley.i dont know how you d be able to fill them all up at once though!i sit in the van with a brew and a book or phone someone for a chat while their filling! ;) ;D ;D ;D

Try hollowing out a giant spider, snipping the ends off each leg then stick a hosepipe up its arse...there you go 8 outlet delivery system.

line up 8 barrels Run a length of pipe the length of the 8 barrels and have a spur at each one!

Like this you can make the length of pipe with copper and just fit t pieces to where you want them ie: in your case for 8 barrels
Excuse the drawing it was never a strong point with me ;D

if your gonna spend money on copper pipe why not buy a 100/200l per minute sub pump 2 mins done. you can get one for about £60 and you can cut this very annoying ritual out of your life.

Trouble with James solution is that the outlets closest the inlet will get the majority of the supply, where the outlets furtherest away will probably get nothing. So the middle barrels will fill up and overflow while the end barrels will remain empty.
Fill the barrels first from your supply when you get home and then fill the van in the morning. If you use an IBC tank, that holds about 1000l so even if its not completely full, you should have enough to do the everything together.
Perhaps the money could be better spent on a solenoid cutoff valve so your tank will always be full.

regarding sub pumps, do they always have too be submerged (silly question ???)
Been using backpack alot recently instead of freedom trolley, only down side is pouring barrels into backpack.
obviously sub pump wont fit in barrel; wondered if any have in/outlets like normal pumps; so could fill backpack without all te lifting?
Tried syphoning with 1 inch transfer hose didn't work very well.

Yes! Sub pump = submersible pump. ;)
With regards to transferring water from barrels to backpack..Do you use a funnel? It would make it easier to transfer the water. The larger the better.

Put your 600/1000 static tank on breeze blocks so the tap is at waist height - use a wide bore hose onto the spigot - each barrel will take about two minutes.

Get a hand full of "Y" piece hose spliters and old hose link the "Y" pieces together with one side and use the other side to sit in the barrrel. but remember u only need 7 because the last 2 barrels will fill from the same. ;)
