cant work as its rainning, so i am researching what is best for my wfp setup that is being fitted next week.
Cant really find much by way of searching, so what does everyone prefer, 8mm or 6mm hose?
I like the idea that 6mm is lighter, but have read that pressure can be a problem, but i will mainly be doing 2 story with the occasional 3rd story with a 100 psi pump.
what do you think?
-
I'd say 6mm because it is really light and easy to use we have a 100m and 50metres of it and we dont have any problems with pressure mate.

5mm i use (30m extension hose)with my trolley.good stuff!(streamlite -5)
-
I think you need someone that has used both to get a decent answer.
-
I have 100m of 8mm and 50 meters of 6mm... Both work as good as the other...

I have both, both are easy to use, no worries with either.
-
hi, we use both out the back of the same van.... both have no pressure probs but the 6mm seems to get caught up on alot more garden gates etc, the small diameter gets trapped all over. hope this helps :)
-
Ive had both and prefer 6, just nicer to use and as said can get 100m nicely on a reel.
-
i started on 8mm, then bought a 6mm reel for my wife, then realised we were mismatched on pressure, so bought another 6mm. so pressure is equal and the same as 8mm, and the reel is hell of a lot lighter, and less likely to fall out the sides and tangle as theres less of it. ive kept the 8mm as a spare though.

I could do with getting some extension hose for my pf trolley. Where's the best place to get around 30m of it at the mo anyone?

i use 8mm yellow to 6mm clear up the pole
-
we have two vans, one has 6mm the other 8mm both 100m. I find the 6mm lighter and I tend to use less water with the 6mm.
-
I use 8mm on hose reels, found 6mm in winter freezes way to quick also slow flow rate with 6mm hose
-
I've just bought a roll of 6mm yesterday from Cleaning Spot and find the pressure is not as good as when I used 8mm ???
-
I've had both and find the 6mm better, but started off with 1/2 inch. Easier to pull out and reel in, saves loads of time over the whole day. I've not had any pressure problems with either but I have had to recalibrate my varistreams so that they work with them. Just make sure your pump is up to it. The 6mm is also cheaper.

Same here.

I use 8mm on hose reels, found 6mm in winter freezes way to quick also slow flow rate with 6mm hose
and this is exactly why im getting 8mm, my 6mm gives me such low pressure that i run my controller on 8 all the time

Which is another good point to consider & one of the reasons I use 8mm. Using 6mm will require more from your pump & thus pull more amps from the battery.
My varistream flow is set at 1 with cut off at 6 (digital) I can run my pump all day direct from the van battery.

Why not use a smaller pump thats more matched to the smaller diameter ?

yes jeff you could but the pump costs more to replace than the hose does
-
After much deliberation I have ordered 6mm hose as I like the idea of it being lighter. Hope I've made the right choice
-
Like I said I just bought a reel of 6mm and I would p1ss faster, the pressure is awfull, stuck my 8mm back on the reel and the pressure is so much better ;D

i use 8mm and streamlite 5 in pole and pressure is good
