Had a call from a job I did about 3 weeks ago,Asain lady saying that all of family have had an allergic reaction to something and all are itching - at first I thought she meant their feet were itching(they walk about bare foot) but she now says its all over their bodies.
She says that shes changed washing powders ect but still have the itching.Shes now saying that it could be because of having the carpets cleaned,does this hold any credensce?
I cant remember for the life of me what I used to clean these carpets but I know they were BW and I tried to extract as quick as possible for obvious reasons.If I have not fully extracted the prespray could this be causing the problem?
Would you go back and do the job again to make sure I have done everything I can?

Wayne you HWE with plain water and rinse out what ever may be in the carpet (if anything at all) have they asked for their money back by any chance?

Hi Wayne,
With the absolute respect to you I would give up carpet cleaning as at every turn you seem to find trouble.
Look over your posts and see for yourself, honestly do not want to seem negative but I don't know how you sleep at night.
Maybe try going 'up market' if you can, and walk away from anything that your not 100% on, get more training, if not give up.

yes their probably related to the last ones you posted about, give em their money back to keep em happy i guarantee you will get loads more work ( large famillies lol) and loads of call backs too or am i a pesemist? 8)

I disagree I think Wayne's problem is he has too much of a conscience and lacks experience with customer service and dealing with it! and that's just a learning curve.
I would try not giving the customer chance to complain, when you leave the job don't say, "if there are any problems please call me" because they will, complete the job and show them and take the money if there's a genuine call back then deal with it don't offer money back, offer a solution.
Money back isn't the answer to everything it's the final answer when all else fails.

I don't see the point in turning up to a job of work thinking 'blimey what's this complaint going to be'.
Wayne's post's are all about negative feedback (and there's plenty of them), I honestly want all us guy's making a living from CC to be healthy, wealthy and wise, but not everyone is pulling up tree's and sometimes you have to take a good hard look.

Most people post about a problem they have, it's like working in a companys complaints department and thinking every customer has a problem.
In reality most jobs go smooth, easy and well paid but you wouldn't post every one of those. Give the guy a break anyway, his confidence is a bit low as it is, it doesn't need someone kicking him in the teeth when he's already in the guter.

i think wayne said in a previous post that they would represent about 60% of his work so he has to find a way of dealing with these problems, the two posts i have read would not lead me to think he was at fault but i think the customers are trying it on and whilst the more confident and experienced among you would know how to deal with these problems wayne obviously does'nt so he needs practical advice from the more experienced on here and encouragement from all.

Thanks for your help mate but.How would more training stop a problem like this?For gods sake anyone would think I have ballsed up every job ive done.I have a person probably clutching at straws to find an answer to her problems here.
I have had 2 or 3 problems that i have made public in the hope of finding advise,and i get nonsense posted back like this from you.
I have had just 2 call backs in almost 9 months of CC,be it part time or full time and on just one of these occasions I have held up my hand and said I was wrong and made a mistake.Why would I want to give up CC.
Were are my other posts that you have posted about that, give negative feed back?I use this forum to ask a few questions and learn from them.Going on a hundred courses wouldnt stop a problem like this.
I asked this question to gauge reaction as to whether I should go back to solve a problem that in all probability isnt of my my making as a goodwill gesture and I get crap posted like yours.

Give up ??? What a demeaning suggestion, the difference between Wayne and a lot of other (negative) posters on here is, he has the balls to come on an open forum every time he has a problem or question. How many of us have looked at some of these "Blips" other people have made and thought "Oh, I'll avoid that situation!" or even offered advice, because you've suffered the same "Blip"?
Wayne should be commended for risking ridicule for when things go wrong and posting them on here, I don't tend to post my problems as much on here any more thanks to the know it all, condescending (and I'm happy to say) minority of members who are quick to pick fault and rub salt in open wounds....
My advice Wayne... Keep Calm and Carry On mate... You'll go far in this business ;)

What Colin said is totally my thinking on this topic.
Wayne, having a conscience is admirable because it shows you care greatly about the service you provide, it will get easier as you get more experienced. I'm only in my second year but i believe you learn and get wiser from every single job.

I would think not she is just going through a list of possibilities

For the future....make a note of what you use on each job on your database, never mind callbcaks you have the info to hand when you next clean for them

Have no idea what you have discussed with the custie, but personally I would have said that "it is highly unlikely that any solution I use has had an adverse effect and have not had any other customers report such. "
Have they asked you to go back? If not, then she was probably just trying to rule out what could have caused it and not blaming you at all. ;D
Just a thought , I believe that you have been full time for only 6 weeks ish! Just take a deep breath, a step backwards and don't panic. It's a totally different ball game when it is your only income and quite easy to just have kneejerk reactions to things.
When you next have a custie, that is well pleased or says something "funny" let us know on here, we enjoy seeing peoples successes ;)

This is when the forums help the most they help the guy with the problem and the guys who are given the chance of avoiding that particular problem happening to them.
I remember cleaning a pure white carpet and i used my envirodri as i was cleaning when i noticed lot of black marks appear it took a little while to work out that dirt was flying off the envirodri because it was not clean, i had never noticed this before because this was the first white carpet i had done by that time.
Got it home and soaked the brushes now keep them much cleaner, i went on the forum that night and warned anyone else using the envirodri to watch out.
Just one example of a negative turning into a positive for someone else.
I have spoken to Wayne a couple of times and had very long chats with him he is very conscientious and professional, i believe this will serve him well in the future

This has come up before on a forum (I think it may have been Clean Talk because I think John Bolton answered it. I may be wrong though).
He suggested that the cleaner approach it like this...
"It is true, that very occasionally, in a handful of cases wordwide, that some sensitive people may be affected by something in the cleaning process.
This will show as a topical type rash ie Only on the parts that have contacted the carpet such as hands or feet.
If it is anywhere else, then you will find the problem has originated somewhere else".
I'm not sure word for word and apologies if it was someone other than John.
In other words, you are taking them seriously and helping but ruling yourself out of the equation.

My balls up yesterday.
Cleaning suite with Hydramaster tool.
Put tool upside down and took a sip of coffee, phone rings
so nip outside and turn machine off.
Finish call and switch pump back on and adjust pressure, no
rise in pressure, mmmm I'm thinking adjusting it up and down
for about 10 seconds. then suddenly dawns on me and switch
pump of rapido.
Left the tool in on position, turned on pump to adjust pressure
and left vacs off till I got right pressure and it ped out all over
the carpet. Luckily lady had popped out to pick Grandkids up and
I was cleaning carpet as well.

Always switch my vacs on before the pump when using the Drimaster - just in case ;)

Dont take no notice what some say on here, there is a lot of wind up merchants. Do not consider packing in, i know your passionate about your work and i for one know you will make a success of it, chin up mate ;)

Hi Wayne- I dont go on the forum much as I feel that some times unconstructive feedback ( how ever small) can can have an adverse effect - I will take constructive yep no problem but some of the threads in regards to your situation has been less than productive - i also think that some times the written word does not come across as well as the spoken word. If need to speak call me.

Before I did CC I used to run a 60 bedded care home so keeping a record of every aspect of a clients on going requirements was drilled into me ,and is something I have carried on into this industry.
So what I do now is keep a brief diary on a data base of every aspect of the clean( and the client themselves) from assessment - right through to the showing the client the dirty water being emptied out of the machine at the end of the clean.
KEEP CALM - DEEP BREATH - KNOW YOUR CLIENT - DONT GIVE UP

It's highly unlikely that anything you've used has caused a problem especially in an entire family. Interesting that she's told you about changing soap powders. Suggests she's looking at all possibilities and you just happened along at the wrong time.
More likely to be a reaction to something they've all eaten !
I'd avoid any dialogue as you may give her the impression that you have an awareness of possibile reactions to products you use.
Assuming of course you only use the standard products we all use.
Forums are a place to find support and help so keep posting. It's a bit like being in a class or on a course where everyone has questions but sit on their hands rather than " embarrass " themselves.
If you need an answer and everyone does now and again...........ask a question !
