Dont think its worth it but meeting rep tmrw.
How much are you lot paying as it seems different people pay different amounts depending on the rep? ???

Did it last year not a nibble. Most people share the same habit and the habit seems to be google. Ask yourself when you last searched for something how did you do it? They claim now they have a tie in with google but I can't vouch for that. I would not do it again but others may have had more success.

Google do make a point of saying that they do not give anybody any kind of special treatment and that nobody can phone you up up and say the at they represent them. But all of these marketing companies do phrase their sales patter as if they are in league with google or are google.
They are only working within the guidelines that anybody can work within with google service. Yell do use sponsored listings and landing pages to drive traffic to their sites. You will get a lot of people calling you to arrange pay per click campaigns for you and will give you the impression that they are google, but google will never phone you up to sell these services.
If you use these services you will pay additional cost to the google costs.
Yell are desperately trying to recoup the massive lost revenue from yellow pages and are really trying hard but at the end of the day yell.com is very overpriced and you are basically buying work. For what you pay for yell .com you can have a web site built which is more likely to bring
a better return.

Your google local will be affected by having a yell entry with a link to your site.

link building is just one of the criteria of rank you can build links without parting with large sums of monies.
Yell have an understanding of web marketing which impresses people without that knowledge you will pay for that.
What I am saying is that you may be better spending that money in promoting your own website or web marketing
strategy.

I have found Y pages and yell . com productive for the last 2 years had a job yesterday and last week from yell.com

I think Yell is still a service worth using, but it is seriously overpriced.
They need to accept that they are simply not the big players they used to be and drop their prices to a reasonable and more realistic level.
There is no way on earth I am willing to pay the kind of money they expect. You'd have to get an awful lot of work through a Yell listing just to cover the costs.
Let's face it, they barely even bother to advertise or market THEMSELVES on TV anymore. I can't remember the last time I saw an ad for Yellow Pages or Yell.com, yet they expect me to pay a pretty heavy price for services they themselves don't even seem prepared to market properly.

we paid out for yellow pages and yell .com in our first year and had nothing at all from it.
cancelled it 18 months ago and we now get maybe 1 enquiry a month saying they found us in yellow pages.
very ironice i know, but personally i will never part with that kind of dosh again unless its gonna benefit my own site

minimal paid for entry in the directory and free listing on yell . com wouldnt fork out much would rather spend on advertising that works for me .

Last year Yell.com cost me around £650 on its own, this year after some haggling I achieved Yell.com,a small business card ad in Yellow pages, for around £500.
It's working and I am getting some good enquiries and worth the money.
