Title: di
Post by: Avo on September 27, 2010, 09:29:54 pm
hi,
I have just recently bought a wfp and trolley with a 25L di vessel but i live in a hard water area.. i've been told this should last me about 2000 litres before the resin needs changing but really my question is would that be 2000L of water with the tds reading of 000....? I see people are using two vessels at the same time so is this to saving money or just to insure there readings are 000.. My tap readings are 300 on the tds meter can that be right cause thats seems like its loads and will that 25L vessel last with big tap readings.

2000 ltrs wont last you very long - if you work on a low water usage of 200 ltrs a day thats 10 days work and i'm sure
that it will be higher than 000 well before that.

a 25 ltr resin bottle take a lot of resin ( over 1/2 a sack ) so a good £30 quids worth

i would say you need to get an RO then resin will last months rather than days

does a 25L DI VESSEL not take a full 25L bag of resin then smudger?

i have a 25L DI but my tds is 35-70 straight from the tap.

ive been using about 1000-1200L  week for 14 weeks.still not needing to change resin yet.

If you look on the gardiner website they have a resin calculator.

You need an RO system and urgently, i have 300tds at the tap and so i have done all the calculations and without an RO you will most probably have a nervous or mental breakdown.
Without lower tds getting into the di chamber and with the cost of resin and water useage on first cleans you will be nigh on paying for the pleasure of cleaning someones windows.

Yes sounds like its gonna empty the old pockets.... god no's where im gonna stick this ro system thou cause my garage is miles from the drain.. Is there a certain ro system i should buy cause i dont want some old rubbish??  The reason i went the di route was because i'll only be using wfp on certain jobs as i wont give up the ladders!!!  200Litres a week max i need for the trolley also i wont have a clue how to setup an ro one bit.

so buying a second vessel wont be any good for me really??   i thought having one with old resin in tap side first would help me keep the second one in better condition for longer with the readings not being sky high...

half a dozen 25litre water containers and a secondhand merlin ro or 200-300gpd unit will get you started and you can do it all in the kitchen, post up a wanted ad in the for sale section
