Good afternoon to our dear cousins from the "Americas"!!!!!!
Nice to meet you all from Sonya.
-
They seem to be a lot cheaper in th US.
I think I read that Purity charges 15 cents a square foot for Carpet Cleaning Think that is about 9pence in our money.
Although I realize Gas , Petrol Land etc is a lot less in US I always thought Americans got paid more.
How much would you pay a Cleaner or is it Janitor in the States.
-
National Average for Janitors is $7.15 an hour, no benefits. We charge about .12 cents a sq. ft. for carpet cleaning or $120.00 per 1000 sq. ft

Interesting, It appears that we are payed more and charge a lot more,
Plus Holiday pay etc.
-
Wow, In the states a 5 bedroom carpet cleaning averages $99.00 dollars as a special, window washing is $1.50 average per pane, Housecleaning about $75.00 for an entire 2 bedroom house. It seems that every person in the states has a service or a friend that has a service, In our service area alone there are 800+ Janitorial services, 200+ residential services, 600+ Window washers, and well over 1500 carpet cleaners, we service a 120 mile radious. We have to have a huge territory, with alot of service options to stay in business. Competition is high, and prices are low. There are no requirements or licensining to having a service, In the US its the #1 start up business and the number one problem >:( Hopefully in the future this does not happen to your area. Do you have any type of restrictions there for starting a cleaning service?
-
I think the main restriction is know how.

Finding Customers
Does not stop people starting but stops them from growing.
What I find interesting Kevin is that despite low charges you can still afford good quality equipment and are able to recruit staff.
Look forward to more postings from you.
Just realised I missed the Exposse of the British Cleaning Industry on TV tonight.
-
I just realised, after reading your post Ian, that missed it too.....damn!
Bound to be someone on here than can give us the low down!
-

Well in the Detroit area we have the highest unemployment in the country, finding help is not that hard. I have diversied my business years ago to offer every service possible. Are biohazard cleaning, air duct cleaning, and floor care are the big-ticket items? Average crime scene clean-up job goes for $3900, one or two days of work. ;)
-
Here we go.... good grief!
You can take the Americans out of America but here they come!!!! They follow you anywhere! ::)

S'funny how the roads in Detroit are the worst I have ever seen/driven on- Motor city!
Would not have got out of the car in a couple of places either.....
-
I agree, the worst roads in the World. We still can`t figure out that freezing and thawing process.
If you work road construction you always have a job.
::)

The roads must be bad !
Took you 18 months to get back to your computer.
