I hope the moderators will allow this but given the work involved in organising this I would like to get a handle on whether its worth running another one.
I realise there will be the usual antogonists and hope that people will keep an open mind.

gets my vote, me and the wife will be there.
-
I am definately planning to go may bring the wife too.
-
Yes they may have a buy and sell table ;D
Shaun

I have not been for last two years but voted yes.
If it was successful and you enjoy putting the time an effort in fine
If not put your time to making some more money for yourself.
It is not Doug, Mike H or Myself you have to convince but Mike B
Promotional rates for events are reasonable
-
I probably won't TBH, have you ever travelled out of Cornwall? It takes forever ;D
Seriously, I haven't seen my own mother for nearly a year because I hate having to travel on the A30 and she lives up Country..
When I get my helicopter, I'll come for definate :D
-
Colin
There's a whole exiting vibrant world beyond the borders of Cornwall. Come out of it more often & experience it. One day you might not use the return ticket ;)
-
Colin I'll agree with you there as just as you get into Cornwall it's as though someone has taken the engine out of your vehicle as it takes that long to get anywhere.
Shaun
-
I missed last one, will definately be going.
Colin, take the train, put your feet up and enjoy the day or the weekend away.
Andrew

I've travelled to Countries you haven't even heard of, I've lived in Hong Kong, the Highlands of Scotland, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Workington, Cockermouth (Home Town) and finally here.... Maybe I'm just sick of travelling ;)
-
Train? That means I can get drunk!
Yes, I'll do it ;D ;D ;D
-
Enjoyed it last year so would go again.
-
I will be there, went the last 2 years, really good day

Me too!

Yes I would attend.
Without causing a row - just wondered why the 15 who have voted no wouldn't attend.
Could be something simple, or perhaps there is something they would like to happen on the day that hasn't been available before - the organisers could try and accommodate other ideas.
-
Probably votes from Simon and all of his aliases :o
Shaun
-
i've voted yes but it would depend on the day and the venue. for me a saturday or sunday would be ideal,
colin

i personally think jason and pete should start a brain storming thread on things to have on the ccdo. maybe something different, more hands on demo's rather than introductions too.
anyway, i'll start with my idea
free maccies (all ya can eat) with every ticket ;D

I am one of the 15... Make that 14 now...! I really hate travelling along the A30 that much... But I will come up on the train unless I need to bring the oven cleaning stuff up to introduce perhaps the newer c/c's the "Dark Side" ;D

Ever the ledgend

I said yes

Hi all,
Thanks for all the support mainly from people who have been before and enjoyed the day.
I would love to know why there are so many no's. Is it the £35 ticket price, the time of year (April), the location (Midlands), the content or for any other reason. Pete posted this on behalf of both of us to gain feedback as to whether it was worth putting time and effort into doing one again next year.
We would appreciate honest replies.
All the best,
Jason & Pete.
-
I would prefer somewhere east of Birmingham
How about Rotherham?
-
Does a few miles really matter that much Ian? If you're travelling from East Anglia same as me I think its further to Rotherham anyway ;)
All the best,
Jason.
-
Sorry Ian tell a lie just did a route finder and from Norwich its 155 miles to Rotherham and 160 miles to Birmingham my mistake.
All the best,
Jason.

1 I do not like sperketti junction
2 My daughter lives in Sheffield so I could fit a visit at same time
3 I can do it in 2hrs as in this instance I am nearer than you and get through the East Anglia Passport toll system quicker.
-
I missed last year as i was just getting started and money was very tight but would like to go next year, from looking at the CCDO forum it looks like it may be cancelled is this correct ?
-
I like Rotherham it's like the land that time forgot, apparently the new fashion there are flares :o
Ian where in Sheffield does your daughter live?
Shaun
-
I just set my Sat Nav and arrives there Millmount Road Meersbrook Sheffield.
But her and her friends are looking for a house with 3 large Bedrooms Parking on Drive for 3 Cars and a grassed Garden at back not on a Hill. Sauna, Swimming Pool
The house before this was advertised with Swimming Pool but No Water
She Actually works at Rotherham's College Dinnington ? Campus A lecturer in Animal Care and Behaviour.
I do not know if College has any carpets they need cleaning, but I do not think they have a bar so that idea is a non starter
-
Good luck finding a Sheffield house not on a hill, I have never seen one.
-
Nor have I ;D
I sometimes wonder how on earth you get truckmounts close to doors every street is full of cars

I posted yes but if anything did put me off it would be the distance.
And I know its the same for alot of others, alot probably travel longer than me, hence the central location but I don't like any kind of distance driving.
I like the idea posted by someone else, i.e. a North & South CCDO but I can see how that would'nt be feasible.
Think the journey would easier if you could share the driving or at least travelled with someone....might let the train take the strain. ;D
-
must admit i dont like the travelling dont really want to go further than the midlands. the venue at wolverhampton was very good just the right size but must admit i hated the venue at stoke but the hotel there was good. ;)
-
Ive been carpet cleaning for 25 years now but I know that I will learn something new or 'how to do it better' on the day, so count me in.
Also my son, who now works with me, so thats 2 more for the list.
-
shaun, why ask where ians daughter lives, not thinking of paying a visit are you!!
:o
-
could do with a complete bonnetting demo there.
think i need one.
-
Colin honestly!!
Jason you found thousands of ££ pounds at the bottom of Sheffield hills where it went flat in the floods.
Meersbrook is where alot of tree huggers live, I find I do quite well with my eco marketing in that area they love the green message but they must be confused with cleaning chemicals as they don't tend to know what to use so therefore don't use any!!
Shaun
-
Colin, he wants to clean her carpets ;)
-

I heard he wanted to give her rug a once over. :P

i also hate driving long distances as i got 9 points all for speeding all on the motorway and none of them for going over 70 mph yeh i know i should have paid more attention to signs anyway train would be my first choice.
-
helicopter for me, things are going well. ;D
-
I've got 9 points also, I smile though when the camara goes off ;D
Re Ian's daughter
I'm sure she's a lovely girl but I was just interested as Ian said she lived in my neck of the woods, I have 'all on' with the women in my life (wife and the mini wife aka daughter) I won't be adding another female to my life in a bloody hurry!!
Shaun
-
I was hoping Shaun would have the DESCRIBED PROPERTY to let in in his empire.
But good point about the floods , Main problem besides parking is in Winter getting up the hill and down without crashing her new pride and joy.
Back to CCDO is there insurance Cover?
I organised a Charity Event recently and as I was not a Club or Organization who already had insurance I found I was not covered .
I nearly had to Cancel as the quotes for one day was £350, I was thinking it would be £90

Highway Code
What's the speed limit on a Motorway for a non car based van?
-
answer!
as fast as you like with a good sat nav to warn of on coming cams.
-
My other 2 properties are are fit for rats so I let to students instead ;D
Actually I or should I say SHE hasn't taken the rent as income for some time as it's be spent on renovation, CH, new windows, loft conversion, letting agent takes 10%, may be an indoor pool next year unless they make one in the cellar themselves.
Shaun
-
yes for me and will probably be with 2 other carpet cleaners from the Norfolk area
-
In that case Great Yarmouth ;D ;D
Would take nearly as long as going to Yorkshire
-
still can't believe you guys haven't started a brain storming thread to see what people might want there.
-
Regarding travel and destination, i think the present location is fine, i have to
travel 200 mile. Best idea would be to hire minibuses etc, and pick up along route,
ie those coming from Scotland and there are a few could collect along the M6 corridor,
same could be done along other routes.
Outcome
A "Jolly Boys Outing"
Andrew

Derek, on ccdo forum i suggested a low moisture demonstration, as there is a lot of talk on
here about it, also i offered to take my old Scorpion, if someone could also bring their Airflex
And also 3 vac Altech, just so others, including newbies could see said machines all at once.
Paul Pearce (god) thought it was a good idea, also to have a speed competition of cleaning 10 sqm of carpet.
Anyone else have any ideas what they would like to see, maybe a high powerered tm
in action, whats your thoughts.
Andrew
-
Maybe some basic carpet re-fitting for removing and replacing underlay and re-stretching skills...
-
Colour Repair
Repairing Cig Burns or small stains
-
A speed competition would be great fun !
-

I think Eterprise would win ;) ;D

The house before this was advertised with Swimming Pool but No Water
That was the football statium :)
[[srry been too busy to look in each day ]]

I'm still surprised that 35 people have taken the trouble to vote no, without any reasons why.
The organisers could learn as much from why people wouldn't attend - it can't be because they have got something on that day as no date has been set yet and would be at least 6 months away.
-
I voted no because the last one I attended was not very good in once you seen Dave powerwash a rug you have seen it,on the first one people went to see Paul Moss's leather cleaning/restoration which did not take place last time.If I was looking at say alltecs new portable they had on show I would want their full attention so I would visit them personally rather than get a quick 20 minute talk on their machine. The idea of launching clean which also divided people within the industry did not help the cause
The night before the main event is the best part of the whole event networking, informal chit chat with everyone.People want to know how to save money not spend it on tickets and travel they want it on their doorstep too.
-
Fair points Steve - I must admit, my favourite part is the night before, plus I am usually too hungover the next day to fully appreciate it.
If I'm honest, I didn't enjoy last years as much, as it seemed everyone was stuck in a classroom all day listening to talks.
-
To put it into perspective , the annual Chem Dry convention was held 2 weeks ago in Manchester , over 500 attended , the cost for a couple was £800 inc hotel , not including travel.
They spend 000's just on professional speakers ,and fly over people from the states . Every year all the franchissees I know pay with pleasure for this as it is a great investment.
CCDO is not such a glamorous or flashy event, however it is an absolute relative bargain to the Chem dry event.
-
me and 3 in
-
i have never been and would like to go if there is another the problem i have had in the past was the time of year as it has clashed with other things if it was in feb i would attend
-
It sounds a good idea although looks like it takes a hell of a lot of organising and costs.
Would it not be possible to have something where just a bunch of carpet cleaners turn up, bring a picknick and natter about CC and show off your vans?
-
A bit like a Sunny day out?
No structure just a 'who's got the biggest TM' I like it sounds unique!
It got boring and everyone ped off by noon as the only thing good was a chin wag for an hour or so, no point of coming from all over the country and having a 60 min chat.
