Hi All,
anyone know the cheapest place for the large vac motors 7" inch ones for extracta excell ?
and before anyone says extracta, i normally get them from them but at around £250 is pretty pricey, so looking for a cheaper option.

still looking, why are they so expensive compared to the 5 " ones ?

They are pricey no doubt but they are excellent quality. If looked after properly they should last you 3 or 4 years + each. I know a lot of the Chinese and Italian imports are crap and dont last 5 minutes

ive had various portables over the years, but for some reason the extracta vacs last about 6 months then pack up !
another machine i have had for nearly 15 years and the vacs have lasted years, im sure theres something about the design od the excell that wears them out prematurely
its expensive when they keep going, ( and its not foam going through either ;) )

Hi Steve
After every job do you remove the hoses and blow cold air in for 2 or 3 mins? Do you keep your machine somewhere warm on an evening? I keep mine in the house!! Do you use plenty of Defoamer including spraying badly foamed carpets with it first?
If your doing all thses things I cannot understand why your vac motors are only lasting for 6 months at a time? Ive had my Excel for over 7 years and I think Ive gone through about 4 in total (including the original 2)

i have had my exell converted to 5" vacs and i can buy genuine lambs for £57 plus vat

Yeah i was thinking about going that route myself as the 5" ones are so much cheaper and to be honest i dont think the 7" produce that much more power.
Is it easy to do?

Maybe you could fit "3" of the smaller ones in? It's a thought!!!!

I fit 5.2" vacs now intead of the 7.2" as the bigger ones are so much trouble and expensive.
I have found that they give as good a performance and fit reasonably easily especially in the Alltec machines.

think i will do that since 2 of the 5" still work out at half the price of 1 of the 7" ones,
its a no brainer really

there is very little room in the guts of an exell! certainly no room for a third vac
