Dave, what type of tools are you using for the gutters with the SL2 poles?

I rarely use any tools. I have a spike that I can screw to my wfp but normally the nozzle does enough work.

Sorry, I meant to ask what type of nozzle you are using and how you fix it and the spike to the SL2 sections? thanks.

HI DAVE SORRY FOR LATE REPLY, JUST WANTED TO CHECK DO YOU SUCK DEBRIS THROUGH THE TUBING? AS THATS WHAT I WANT TO DO..WONDERED IF THERE STRONG ENOUGH THOUGH?

Yes I use superlight base sections and 38mm vacuum hose. Three sections is enough for your average house. When I built my system the Superlights were a lot cheaper then. I turn the sections upside down, this helps to stop the sludge jamming the joints but it also means the hose cuff fits perfectly inside the first section. I have a u bend on the top section and a nozzle made from plastic pipe and cut at an angle.

If you are going for the complete system then do your homework on the prices - the Omnivac might be better value now than it was then.
Back then the mark up on the generator alone was in the hundreds  :o

Many people are using the Eastern Trading vac and it seems good for the money. Then of course you could try the Polarvak.

Forgot to say - the spike doesn't fit on the superlight sections but on my 44' Smax or any other pole in the van.

THANKS DAVE. ALREADY HAVE THE EASTERN BUT NOT HAPPY WITH THE TUBING AS ITS HEAVY ENOUGH AT 18FT AND IM GONNA BE WORKING AT PLUS 30, SO NEED SOMETHING LIGHTER. ALREADY HAVE THE 35FT SUPERLITE SO WILL BUY A FEW MORE BASE SECTIONS MAKES SENSE ALL ROUND. THANKS DAVE I THOUGHT IT WAS THE WAY TO GO BUT WANTED TO CHECK BEFORE SPENDING YET MORE MONEY.

No Dai I didn't. I can't find one for love nor money round my way. They have brought out a new design that doesn't look much good.

Dan, Mr H used the bigger hose - I used the 38mm hose. It's so simple my ten year old could make it. The hardest part would be sourcing the parts for the top bend. You don't need to cut or make any collars with the smaller hose and the upturned sections.

DAVE DO YOU CHARGE A PREMIUM FOR HIGHER WORK? IE £1.50 PER METRE NORMALLY  AND £3.00 A METRE AT 50FT? OR OVER CERTAIN HEIGHT? IF YOU GET WHAT IM ASKING.

Not me, I just look at the job, think of a price then quote it. If it's a 50 foot job then you have to think what alternative means there are of clearing it. Provided no-one else in your area uses a guttervac then you stand a very good chance of landing a good deal. If it's a normal domestic job then you have to realise your competition might be a guy up a ladder. I look at the customer, look at the area and try to work out a fair price. Some guys think that because they have spent a couple of grand on a system then they can charge the earth.
I'm not so sure.
