Morning guys/gals I have had a few rub outs lately and have started to ring the client the night before to confirm the appointments for the next day.The thing is it seems to then give them the opportunity to defer and sometimes drop the appoinment which seems to be couinter productive.I think my phone manner is pleasant and sensible prices too so any suggestions of why this might be happening or should i just turn up at the original appointment time.Much appreciated Alan(swindon)

We all get them from time to time, thankfully in the minority! When we book a job it is booked and we do not phone the day before etc etc. Why give them the chance to back out?
As for those who are not there when you turn up. A call to their mobile (sometimes they have genuinely forgotten and come running back) (sometimes they have had an emergency and the carpet cleaner was not the first priority) That's defending the "good" excuse ones. For the bad ones.....not much you can do, except forget them and treat yourself to the next few hours off, or even go and get better work in...It really isn't worth bothering about :)

When I first started, I had a couple of people who either forgot I was turning up, or just couldn't be bothered ringing me to cancel.I always call 24 hours before the job to confirm booking. If they cancel so be it,but at least ive not wasted time and effort.

I only ring the customer if the job has been booked way in advance ,otherwise turn up on time as arranged . By phoning them the day before makes me think that maybe you don't want to do the job, in my opinion . We all get the odd custie that isn't there or forgets as Helen said , not worth bothering about .

It's better than turning up, doing the job then them turning round and asking for an invoice ??? >:(
Happened to me twice in 2 weeks, One isn't paying the £120 and I'm chasing a £100 bill too! I'd have been happier not doing the job and spending valuable time with my family instead....

Must be something in the air >:(

I had three in the one afternoon last week. :-\
Was starting to get parra about it.

I had a job cancelled by a text and it really wound me up at the time that they could not be bothered to phone up and i never did return there text.I also had a few people text me for a price and dont even text them back

Welcome to the club! I got one on Saturday that was booked in tomorrow. If they dont re-book there and then (with that txt) I dont even bother replying. Unless its a previous customer or refferal.

They seem to come in two or threes so guess it will even itself out over time..

Look, it's a big mistake to ring them, you will get more people saying 'oh I was going to ring you'.
Just tell them when you book that they will be billed if they cancell within x hours. Say to them let me know if you can't do it and get agreement.
